Got a fancy microscope from Amazon so it’s my first time really checking out the trichomes. Thoughts on where I stand? First is Violeta second is Nepal Jam x Kali China

Nice pictures. The 2nd one is ready to chop. The 1st is all milk & could wait a little longer.

Thanks man! That’s kind of what I thought about the second one, but she put out a burst of new pistils last week and ~30% of them still haven’t receded. So I was trying to wait that out, but trichs are only getting more amber as the days go on.

I was planning on just chopping Saturday morning, pistils be damned...

Great pics. Do you have this microscope which can be clipped on a mobile phone?
New bursts and pics looks like she is ready to chop :)

Yeah I got a WiFi microscope off Amazon that works exceedingly well. Just sync up and take pics on your phone! Beats the jewelers loupe by a mile, that’s for sure.

Yeah the jeweles loupe is out ou state. But i could also recommend the clip lens with at least 15-20x zoom, this optical clip gives me better pics and a better overview than my other 60x-100x handy microscope, since you see only a round spot with the eye.

==>Much better to see it on a screen, which also optically increase the size for your eyes 🤓

afman916 nice pics man. What brand and model u got? I'm looking for something similar and your pics look promising.

The last 3 pics look ripe.

Thanks man! Here’s the one I got from Amazon -

Wireless Digital Microscope,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DVFBVPF?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Lemme know if that link doesn’t work, pulled it from the app.

Takes a bit of a steady hand and getting used to, and my approach is take 30 shots and cull it down to 3 or 4 haha, but as you can see you can get 3 or 4 highly-detailed and informative pics.

Appreciate the feedback on ripeness as well - plan is to take the top half down tomorrow morning after a thorough inspection of trichs. Most of the pistils from the last flush have died back now...there’s a small part of me that wants to kick her another week down the road, but we’ll see just how much amber I find myself staring at tomorrow morning.

Brought half the Nepal Jam down on Saturday - trichs looked great, and I nuked a small bud in microwave to test high. It’s great! Gentle, active/social, no raciness - love it. Drying in a closet at roughly 62-65 degrees and 42-50% RH.

I do have another question that cropped up with this morning’s watering - I think I may have overfertilized my Thai Chi a bit, as I’ve read they’re pretty sensitive to nutes during flower. Some of the sugar leaves and topmost buds are a little crispy. I don’t think I can attribute it to temp/lights, as no other plants are exhibiting these symptoms and my temps are great (74-77) and lights are a good 24-30” above canopy.

My question is - can overfertilization cause amber trichs? When I checked her out with the microscope I noticed that some of the top buds had a good number of amber trichs, but alongside large numbers of clear trichs. I’d anticipate some level of amber trichs at this stage, but seeing that amount of amber alongside quite a bit of clear has me wondering if those amber trichs are more indicative of stress as opposed to natural maturation.

I can upload some pics later but just thought I’d see what everyone has to say, thanks!
