let's start this with a big :D
doesn't quite belong here...on the other hand it doesn't belong anywhere else but in the grow boards...

tree huggers...now...you get who i'm referring to.
just got myself a new power supplier who had all those nice charts on his website as to how much nuclear waste/co2 you are responsible for with every kwh you use...that's a lot!

here's an example: 270 g/kWh CO2 emmissions, 0,0013 g/kWh radioactive waste...

the average is stated to be some 515 g/kWh CO2 and 0,0008 g/kWh radioactive waste.

interesting, isn't it? considering who much energy we consume, especially by growing...

But I use to feel guilty about it.
But honestly I look at the AirLine Industry, any manufactor for that matter. They use up far far more than we do.
It would be nice to have 400 and 600 watt CFLs to grow with... mabe someday.
I don't feel as bad about it now... but it did.

I try to do my part...
I look at my light bill and try my damnest to get it lower then one year ago for that same month. Just wish I could hit zero. If I could it would be outside for-sure. Closed minded BASTARDS. :bat:

The answer is to eat as much fish as you can. The main method of reducing co2 is to allow the swarms of micro organisms in the oceans to consume it. The fish eat these, and bigger fish eat them, so by eating more fish, you are reducing the numbers of fish eating the organisms that are trying to repair our environment. These micro organisms contribute to the reduction of CO2 at a rate far in excess of the COs that the rain forest deals with. This is because when they die, these micro organisms fall to the sea ocean where they form the ocean floor, and away from the oxygen which decays stuff, tends not to break down. The trees within the rain forest however, at the end of their co2 consuming life, fall over and decay releasing the co2 locked in their bodies. Rainforests are great at creating oxygen, but for co2 removal, you need higher numbers of micro organisms in the oceans. So if you are feeling guilty, eat some fish and save the planet.

But I bought Alskan Sea Bass :yummy:
They had to use fule to catch them, fule to freeze them and fule to ship it to minnesota, thats a lot of fule just so i can eat some awsum Sea Bass!
Where is the balance... if any?

Sin :sasmokin:

Eating fish is not a way of reducing CO2 or toxic waste. The exact opposite is true. Like you said Sin, fuel etc is used and the healthy balance of the oceans is seriously in danger from fishing industry.

In terms of the general morality of indoor growing, I'd say, its not looking too good. In my mind, you have to grow as efficently as possible. Like you want to have your shopping list planned out so you don't drive all over town, don't let grower error reduce your yeild when youre using electricity to grow.

Everything is a balancing act.

So what are your suggestions gzzmo? Eveyone should turn stop growing indoors and make that 0.000001% difference? Well, at the moment, we dont have a choice. There are clean sourses of energy ( fusion, zero point e :p ) but having capitalism ruling the world, free energy is out of the picture, while its most needed thing of our time and the need is rising.

Btw
howmany people do accualy grow tomatoes under HPS lights at home? Or any other herbs that arent illegal? And who is making it illegal?...

nuff for now.
