Treacle???

Okay i've been hearing about molasses for a while now and i always assumed that they were another type of fert like bat guano or bone meal and not somthing that can be bought cheaply in a supermarket.

Molasses are the same as treacle as far as i understand now. So the question i wanna ask is have any of the european growers(particularily english and irish cos of the similar products) tried using treacle, what brand did you use and how did you find it? I'm four weeks into flowering now so is it worth my while doing this?

If you are using a flowering fert, simply add a tbs of molassis to the mix when you water next.

Be aware "treacle" is a british generic term for any syrup made with refined sugar cane,it may not be molasses or blackstrap molasses at all,it could be something entirely different. Not bad for a yank huh?

Thanks Ballastman didn't think many americans would get the term treacle.Or understand what it is.

Does anyone know of any reliable, good treacle i could buy for my plants? What about Lyles?

In American treacle means "unrestrained sentimentality" if you can believe that lol.Hell google can make anyone look like they have half a brain haha

Its okay i found a brand i can use, checked up molasses brands found out that Tescos stock a one of the brands, checked the Tesco website and its there so its probably at my closest Tescos.

Btw Lyles Treacle it seems is like molasses except have a slightly more burnt flavour, couldn't find out the composition difference if there is any though.

i'm not a race fan, i'm just amazed that guy could accomplish so much in his life with such a bizarre name. The childhood teasing must have been horrible. I would've changed my name ASAP... probably to Mike Hawk :biglaugh:

I believe that what you want to look for is called "Blackstrap Molasses", here in the US, anyway. Much more Iron than other types. We use it as a supplement, since we don't eat animal products at all and need the iron. 1 tablespoon of blackstrap molasses contains like 75% of your daily iron needs.

I buy mine at the health food store, not sure if grocers carry it normally. I do feed it to my plants regularly.
