transplant shock and how I will fix it.

I had left my plants in 16 ounce cups about 2 weeks too long so I thought it was a good idea to ripp the biggest roots of the bottom that were spun out :bat: .This is not a good idea for any newbies out there. When I transplanted they dropped for a few days got very yellow and as you can see I had to pull some dead leaves off. Right now they look much better but I think we can get them looking 100% again.

The fix: I am brewing some bat guano tea in my bubble cloner over night which will be 24 hours. Some say its better if its 48 but 24works for me. I used 1/4th cup of 10-3-1 all organic guano with 1 gallon water :yummy: . I will water in the morning and we should see a huge difference in a couple of days. I think I may even use half of what Im brewing and add another half gallon of plain water so I dont burn them. Its much easier to give them more if its not enough but once you burn them thats it :dueling:

they will be fine...

in my opinion guano by itself is not as good as guano with 2 or 3 other organic ferts ( compost, worm casts, blood-n-bone, aged manures etc)

go easy on the ferts.....I usually dilute four handfulls of variied organic ferts ( or a handful of fert pellets) in a gallon for aweek and dilute this down 10 ~ 20 times..but it all depends on how big the plants are, what's in the soil and how they look.....it's best to err on the light side..esp with just transplanted plants in fresh potting soil

I'd give them a weak pH adjsuted solution and when they have doubled in size and are in fast grwoth mode I;d hit them with a stronger mix

happy growing! and keep us informed

I think the tea is too strong myself.

And I would add the ewc/compost along with some kelp and molasses.

The recipe I seem to think most use is

1 tbs of guano (either high N or P)
1 tbs ewc
1 tsp liquid kelp
1 tbs molasses

per one gallon water

I use an ewc/compost mix I purchased from the hydro store. Its "alive" with benificials the ad copy says. Seems to work.

What is the soil mix?

Just my two duckets.

Out of the gallon tea I made I used 1/3 of that and mixed with a half gallon of water and then watered plants. I think that was okay . They look amazing after a few hours hopefuly will green up some.

Oh yeah the soil mix is not my normal armstrong gardens brand which was my favorite but a new organic soil called whitney farms. I loved there seedling soil so I gave this a go. I think I will be adding some seabird guano ,dolomite lime and perlite to the mix when I transplant.

They love the guano tea

They love the guano tea

In 1 day they have really taken off and but the next feeding should be all green again. I will do 2 table spoons of gunao into 1 gallon water.

Looking good, nice move on using the guano and being patient.
I'm a lazy transplanter too, I always delay and get caught short but that happens when ya busy!
Those look like 2 gallon containers, you'll probably need them in 5gallon pots to flower.
Look into brewing a microbiAL tea, these boost the critters that feed the plant by chewing the organics in the soil, MI posted a good recipe.
