TrainWreck close to harvest....

i've smoked trainwreck on many occassion but this was my first time growing it.. and DAMN!! now i know what the hype was all about :D

i know she looks a bit skimpy.. but due to lack of space in my grow, this girl was grown in my bf's grow room (off to the side and under no direct light).

for people who haven't grown tw, expect for a quick flowering time!
after 2 weeks of 12/12, calyxs started to swell and trich production was at full throttle  .. with stretch lasting about 3 weeks.

i wasn't expecting it to finish as fast as it did (6wks), but since the flush was started a week late she'll be taken down at day 49 :bashhead:

SB,
Looks like the real e-32/Trainwreck to me. The cut I have grows very viney, small tight buds, greyish green..smells kinda pine-sol/minty and very fast finish 42-49 days not a big yielder but absolutely top notch killer smoke. Looks like you got a good cut hang on to it!

10 weeks?! i've never heard of wreck having a flowering time of 70days...... but maybe i'm wrong

this cut was given to me by a friend in McKinleyville... so judging that its a local strain here, and i've smoked on the heady buds that came from this clone (which has the unmistakable citrus/fuel/pine smell and diesely flavor)... i'll just go by what he told me.

i appreciate your input though, and if you have any pics of what you would call the "real deal" wreck, please post your pics!

tokinjoe... thanks for the kind words, i still think she wasn't done the justice she deserved, but its better than no tw to smoke  lol

thanks for stoppin by Dr. D... i believe this girl finished a lil earlier than expected, due to lack of light and small container size (1 gal)... as my friend usually runs his in 5gal's to about 7-8 weeks, with nice results.

CC... thanks, all that extra resin sure makes a nice melty bubble!

Blue Marlin... i don't know what the e-32 stands for (as i've only heard it referred to Arcata/Humboldt), but this clone has definately won a space in my garden

this is highly debatable right here.

it CAN be taken past 55, but PURE WRECK can be and will be done early as fack...

LOOKING GREAT, BABE!!! I've got the Arcata cut and can't wait to flower her out for the 1st time... looks like you've got the real deal. It's for sure an early finisher like you wouldn't believe and how about that smell? :canabis: Truly awesome plant for a 1gallon'er and lighting [or lackof].

positive vibes your way~~~~

Yes, it was an accidental cross that occured in row E-32 (the origninal name) of an outdoor garden in Southern Humboldt. The original plant was a vine like creature that didn't seem to measure up to the larger plants and a couple of fellows took it home and cloned it.

The cross is lowland Thai x Mexican Sativa x presoviet Afghani.

Yours,
Dr. Jay

Berserker replies:

Dear Jay (et al)

a.) it was NOT row e-32 it was thirty second rotation - sub type "E" = e-32

b.) that cross was "Mostly" LowLand Thai x Mexican Sativa (dirty mex brick weed) ... that some how (stuipd new-be) got into the mix ... and X with standered Indca dom strain of the late 70's early 80's era that was (and is) the staple of out door in much of the P.NW then and now.

c.) the plant NEVER really seemed to come in - did NOT purple even when it was left in (for what seemed for ever) - it DID get a light BLUSH of mauve!

d.) when we did finally cut it (in the sleating rains of a late year = not even worth going back for was the argument - short hike but like why bother for that huge creeper like THING that didn't have any bud on it last time we looked) -- well we ended up going down the hill - and found SOME AIR BUD on it - long fethery branchs. + had seeded a bottom branch PER: SOP of anything "weird' - or GREAT!

e.) then once we got it up and dryed the damn thing - and 'tested it' = WOW .. end of story ..

f.) e-32 (what is now called TW) became ledgen - in 82 there was NOTHING comprable.

g.) ... so that's that -- the seeds were pretty much stable from that X - and over the years we weeded out <pun> the Borad laef tendencys ...

--- yeild IS low = its comes in consistantly
w/o Co2 at about 80% of a LB per 1000y
w/ Co2 at about 110-120% of a LB per 1000y

out doors well how big are the plants (chuckle) BUT it tends to hold CLOSE to the 21.3 grams per Sq Ft vs. the 31.95 to 46.2 grams per Sq Ft in full sun of any of the broad leaf phynotypes.

and color = yup its GREY NOT GREEN! because of the krystals - which are ALL OVER THE PLANT from bottom of the stem to the tippy tops!

you know its wreck if:

Every time you look at it you wonder if its got MITES - and when you look closer you see its JUST the grey of the KRYSTAL looking like mite webs!

your arm hairs are sticky and you don't remember touching anything in the room ...

it SMELLS of MINT - or menthol ...

the TINY buds at the base of the stem are KRYSTALLY TOO -- just like the tops - and when they are dry they are total KRYSTAL = snow white ... and you find your self going "wow this is better looking then the tops!"

if your checking the SIZE of your ONE hit - not how MANY hits you can take before total couch lock ...

Then - that's the wreck!

yours,
b

my plants look identical to yours, except larger. letting her run for 70 days is when you will see her pack some weight on...leave one in the garden to go out that time pick one at 49 days and just compare the two :)

Hey SB that wreck looks great , nice and frosty!

Ive been growing arcata trainwreck and have taken it at just about every day between 42 days (earliest) and 65 days (latest). I prefer it in the 50-55 day range. It will bulk up more closer to 60-65 but since I only grow for myself and not commercially I dont mind the smaller budage. It is gonna wreck you no matter where you take it. Dr jay likes it between 42-44 days and he knows more about wreck than most around. It is because of him I think of bloated whales everytime I smel the wreck.

My "Trainwreck" bud structure does not look like that. Those thick rose petal-like spiraled calyxes on the top of the bud has never happened in my garden. Always small has a mass of small calyxes. Also the cut i have is waaay more viney. It'd be impossible for the bud to shoot upwards like that without some support.

You may actually have the real Trainwreck that nobody has really seen outside of the humboldt area. Word is the cut that I and many other people have grown to love as TW is not the real cut. I was also told my cut is actually a 10 week strain that people usually chop at 6-8 weeks. Anyways...nice plant whatever it may be
