Traded my cigs for a Vape Pen/E-cigarette.

First I just want to say that buying an e-cig/vape pen was by far the easiest way to quit smoking cigarettes. Made the switch about a month ago. I went from smoking about a pack a day to maybe one or 2 cigarettes a week, depending on social situations. I have not bought a pack in about 2 weeks.

The first week I was still smoking cigs but less.

The second week I was only smoking about 3 cigarettes a day.

The third week I was only smoking 1 a day or less.

Now I only smoke if I don't have my vape pen or if the battery runs out and I don't have my charger.

I don't even crave cigs at all I would much rather toke on my vape. It tastes way better, I don't stink afterwards, and I still get a real nice nicotine buzz.

Now I'm working on taking the nicotine level down. I started with an 18% juice, went down to 12%, and now some on my juices are at 6%.

My favorite flavor atm is Belgian Chocolate from Halo. Unfortunately my local store only has them at 12% and 18%.

For anyone with experience with these, I do have some questions....

Currently I'm using an Ego twist 1100 mah battery, and am trying to find the best tank/cartomizer to use with it. The ones that come with the ego kit SUCK!!! Constant leaks, juice in the mouth, always having to clean and readjust.

So I went with the Kanger mini which was much better but I wasn't getting the full hit that I wanted. I went into the vape shop and the suggested the Kanger Pro Tank which was great, but I went through 2 wicks in 4 days. I usually have my battery set on 4.2. I don't know why but they are just burning out on me.

So I'm looking for suggestions on what the best battery and tank there is to get. Dual coil? I want a nice full hit, lots of smoke and lots of flavor. Anyone know what the current best gear on the market is?

Also any suggestions on flavors?

Thanks I am loving these things! Quitting smoking was easier than I ever thought possible!

I heard ecigs might be as bad or worse for your health because of something in the vapor

Thanks man yeah I did and you're right on there's some great info on this topic.

I heard ecigs might be as bad or worse for your health because of something in the vapor

Yeah I was outside the other night on the strip and someone walking by said 'Those are bad for you'. So I replied 'Not as bad as cigarettes', and he says to me, 'We'll see in 20 years'.

I've read some research on this. Studies of some commercial brands of E-cigs have found other chemicals. But those are the cheapie commercial brands, which suck anyway. Get a nice vaporizer and some quality juice where you know the ingredients. I get mine from a place that makes it locally. 4 ingredients.

All I can say about it is, my lungs feel 1000% better, my energy level is up, my throat isn't sore anymore, and I don't stink.

Ya when I first tried E-cigs it was those blue ones. I thought they were horrible. Tried several other ones that were available at the gas stations and walgreens. They were all pretty bad. Soon I was back to cigs.

It wasn't till I went to an afterhours party that this stripper in the building was hosting, and they were all vaping and passing it around. I tried it and thought to myself god damn that tastes way better than my cigs.

Then like 5 months later I was partying and smoked like 2 packs in a night. I remember lying in bed and my throat hurts and my lungs hurt and I'm just like what AM I DOING? I gotta stop this right now. The next morning I searched online and found a vape store near me. Been a very happy vaper ever since.

I love my e-cig, got a gift card for 1 last Christmas and now I haven't had a cig in over 8 months!! I was a pack-a-day+ smoker for years.. The funny thing for me is, I didn't really plan to quit - I was just gonna use my e-cig to go to the bar and such, cuz I hate smoking outside in the cold winter.. But loved it so much, I weened down just like you did and quit completely after about 3 weeks.
.... My favorite flavor is Toasted Marshmallow from a local vape shop - I also started at 18% and now I'm down to 12mg..

As for your questions:
- The EGO-Twist is a GREAT starter battery, it's really all you need unless you want longer battery-life, plan to use rebuildable atomizers and such, or want something fancier..

- The ProTank is a AMAZING tank, for about a day until the wick goes to crap. I don't know why, but the coils lose performance very quickly for me (and many others), and I had to change them every 2 days.. So after awhile, I learned how to build my own coil/wick for it - which only costs me about 20¢ instead of $2-4 per coil!! Than I learned how to build a microcoil (from the website that SlimPickens suggested > ECF.com.. This website turned me into a pro-vapor, just like OverGrow and IC turned me into a pro pothead), and use cotton balls for my wicking material and it hits better than any tank I've tried now, and the taste is better too.

- 4.2volts is safe if you are using the 2.5ohm coils, it's a little high if your using lower-resistance coils. I just built a microcoil today, it's coming in at 2.1Ωs and I'm vaping on it @ about 3.9volts - I like to vape just over or around 7 watts.

- The Kanger T2 was the 1st tank I tried and it worked very good. The coils would last me 2 weeks sometimes longer, compared to 2 days from the Protank. So if you don't want to get into building your own coils yet (or at all), the T2 is a great clearomizer.

And here's a side tip:
- Stick to it!! Don't pick up a cigarette, no matter what, if you really want to quit! And there is a lot to learn with e-cigs and vaping, but it can become a good hobby. ... And there will definitely be some verryyyy frustrating times, when your tanks or equipments don't work or break, your not getting the hit that you're craving, you can't taste your favorite flavor for a day or a week, your battery dies at work, etc.. A lot can and will go wrong, but this will happen less and less as you learn more.

Sometimes, a lot of things can go wrong that will make you want to just go light up a cig, but the more you learn and the longer you stick to vaping, the easier it gets. Eventually, you will figure out how to make your vaping experience, most enjoyable for you, and won't even think about cigs

And the key is really finding a flavor that you absolutely lovee.. This is where a lot of people turn back to cigs, they try 1 flavor & hate it.. It can take some experimenting to find something you love, for many a good tobacco flavor is a good start.

I was very lucky, the family member who got me my e-cig gift card last christmas, let me try her "toasted marshmallow" flavor, which was the 1st flavor I ever tried.. Today, it is still my favorite flavor!! And I've tried hundreds..
... Now, my Protank usually consists of about 60% Toasted Marshmallow, 25% Chocolate Milkshake, and 15% Cotton Candy - delicious!!

I used those tablets you get from the doctor, expensive as hell, but kicking the nicotine habit don't mean you got to be keep putting that nicotine in your body...
But yeah!!! I do miss it and in a joint for that extra kick ....sob sob!

ps now I just hate the smell and taste is 2 years down a long road but still on that road ...lol

I'm so glad to see this thread!

I just quit smoking 21 days ago by switching to an e-cig. I use the Halo G6 Pen, and I've only ever used Halo juices, but I use several of them. Here's my story...

I have been smoking ryo tobacco for almost ten years now. I wanted to quit, but cold turkey wasn't working. So I tried one of those Blu disposable cigs. It tasted like a Swisher sweet or some other sweet cigarillo, so in other words it was nasty, but it actually kept me from rolling a cigarette for over 24 hours!

So I found out about Halo, and how they have realistic tasting tobacco flavors, and I decided to buy one of their starter kits. I then started trying out a bunch of the different flavors. It didn't take longer than a week to figure out which flavors worked for me, and I quit smoking 21 days ago from today.

I smoked filterless ryo cigarettes, Bugler brand to be exact. So it turns out the Halo flavor that allowed me to transition away from smoking is Torque 56. That one really tastes like a full flavored cigarette. I also tried Turkish, and I've been letting it steep for several weeks now, but I couldn't really enjoy that one, because it tasted exactly like Camel wides to me. That could be a great flavor for people who smoked Camels, but even when I smoked machine rolled cigs I liked Marlboro, and couldn't stand that scratchy throat the Camels gave me. I also like Prime 15, which doesn't taste like any cigarette I've ever smoked before, but it definitely tastes like tobacco and has a kind of subtle cocoa flavor on the exhale. I like that one a lot, actually. I also like this one called Tribeca, even though out kind of has caramel and nutty flavor in there. It originally tasted awful to me, like some kind of flavored foofoo coffee or some shit... but it grew on me, and I actually like it along with my morning black coffee. I also use Southern Classic, which is like tobacco with a SoCo flavor to it, it's awesome! Goes well with an IPA. I've also just started vaping this one called Longhorn, which tastes like a Cavendish cigar. That one is good after dinner.

Anyway, seriously, vaping has freed me from cigarettes. I started off on 18 mg strength, but recently I've gone down to 12 mg. I'm going to keep stepping it down til I'm free of the craving.

Good luck to anyone else who is able to quit! E cigs are worth a try!

I smoked for decades and the e-cigs helped some to quit. I finally just had to cold-turkey the cigs. Now I had some Ego equipment laying around. Wanted to use the e-cigs for vaping oil but could never find the right combo of oil and atomizer. Now there is one that works called a Wax-T.

How much do they cost?

Nice! Glad to see some like minded people on here.

I had a cig last night socially last night for the first time in about 2 weeks. Yuck! It just reminded me how much I don't like real cigs anymore.

Any E-juice recommendations please do post them.

I like Belgian Cocoa from Halo it's by far my fav so far, but I have yet to try many of them aside from the local shops.

Just picked me up a new dual coil tank today. So far dct's are best tanks I've tried. Nice full flavor and thick smoke. Bit longer to set it up and prime, but the don't seem to burn out as fast as the bottom coil tanks.
