Hey guys, let me preface this by saying I've been growing for about a year up until this point, but I never had any decent genetics. Up until this point I've just worked on trial growing with bagseed, and the results have been great for me. I befriended a great person, an anonomous ICmager, and it was through this friendship that I was unexpectedly given some beans of great quality. I was given 10 beans each of Chemdog D x Sour Diesel IBL, and Strawberry Diesel v3. I just want to say a special thanks to that wonderful friend, and I hope all is well. More importantly I wish that person all the best in world and without their help I couldn't have imagined getting my hands on strains such as these.
Ok now to the grow. I've really enjoyed the results I've gotten from organic soil growing, and with a lack of space and money I've elected to continue to use organics for this grow. The soil mix I'm using is about 40% Shellfish compost, 40% potting soil, and 20% perlite/vaccuumlite mix. For the nutes, I'm using Metanaturals 16-0-0, Meta's bloom formula, Biobizz's Fish-mix, and biobizz's al-g-mic. My setup is such that I have 3 boxes. 1 box is purely for flowering and it has a 400 watt hps setup. The second box is a combination mother/clone box and it's setup like an armoir with 3 100 watt equiv cfls. The last box is a tent that I've converted into a veg chamber with 5 100 watt equiv. cfls.
I ended up with three keepers from the first batch of seedlings, and I kept the two outstanding looking females as mothers. After I got the mothers I sent the next batch of plants through to flower including both strains, while leaving one ccdx sd ibl to veg longer along with three plants of unknown origin(I refer to them as Green Steam). I also took two clones from each mother, and they're in the cloning chamber hopefully going to root soon.
Here's my setup...
This is the mother/clone box. Clones on top, mothers on the bottom...
The Strawberry Diesel is on the left, and the ccd x sd ibl is on the right...
Better look at the strawberry diesel...
Some fat ass leaves on this girl...
She's a little stretched, but here's the ccd x sd ibl mom...
Clones under the humidity dome...
the tent...
CCD x sd ibl fatty bombatty leaves...
the flowering box. Sorry for the hps glare...
Interesting side note: Two of the ccd x sd ibl beans were mutants, and grew two main stems which was weird. Anyone else see this trait? This pic shows the canopy of one of the mutants...one stem is definitely larger but I found this growth pattern odd.
This mutant has what looks to be like the crinkled leaf syndrome. Very odd indeed but if she's a female I'm keeping her around.
Well that's what's going down in my grow op, and I figured I'd share it with you guys. I'm actually leaving the country for a few months so I won't be able to update with pics until harvest, but I'll keep you posted on how everything is. I know words don't show the beautiful progression of a plant's life, but this is a start I guess. Again, a very special thanks to a great friend who has really helped me out here.
