Topping right before going 12/12

I have never done this, I tend not to top plants.
But has anyone done this right before switching to 12/12, I mean top them the same day.
I imagine this would affect yeild as the nodes will not have enough time to grow big enough to grow big buds.
Anyone with any experience with this?

Topping and Flipping can be very effective all depending on your set-up and genetics. By topping you will redistribute the growth hormone through out the plant, instead of just the main stock. Making the "Starch" more even through out the plant and making it easier to control indoors...

I usually would wait a week to two weeks after final pruning/topping before switching to 12/12 so as to give time for the plant to recover from the loss if limb(s) and to allow the new shoots to grow a lil.Never topped/flipped in the same week let alone the same day,sorry.

It depends on what you are growing. Indica dom strains won't respond well to this in my experience, they need 2-3 weeks for a good recovery in my opinion. Something that you expect a vigorous stretch on will do ok.

only with outdoor and it results in two top buds right next to each other.definetly better to allow it time to veg and let the branches grow a bit which will result in 2 bigger buds.The more you top it the smaller the bud size gets but the amount you get goes up

and if you top it and let it veg it will make the sidebranches compete for new top and you will get more bud in the end

i top and prune all of mine right before i put them in bloom. sometimes i even top all the tops to make the plant even. i even do a light pruning 2-3 weeks in bloom. its a must when u got certain strains that double in flower
