TOPPING, NEW METHOD?

read some where that they "TOP" their plants one (1) week before flowering, saying it increases yield, I understand what topping can do but this late , always thought this was done early in veg stage. whats your take?:tumbleweed:

You can top when ever you want it don't increase your yield at all just shapes plant differently making more surface light...

Yeah theres nothing new about topping.

It does increase your yield over not topping,as it shapes your plant it promotes the lower weaker branches to grow and become beefier thus producing bigger denser buds.

I always top my ladies.

had some plants get burned by lights before and i cut the tips off. those colas swelled up and you couldnt tell it was cut because the buds underneath filled out and made a fat top with four heads. i wouldnt recommend it though because i did have to flower the couple that were that way longer. i wish i would have weighed that top and one of the same size that wasnt i would almost think it was a little chunkier. but as any indoor grower knows looks can be deceiving haha

I cut the top colas off my SourD to get the light down to the lower buds.
She filled in great after that-due to everything being the same height.

The benefit of a top cut that late in flowering would only be the fact that nuits go to the highest buds and if you have one tall cola. Everything Else gives to make it fat.
Spread that love and keep it all the same level early on. lol

Cant imagine 1 week being enough time to do anything but stunt the growth right at the end. To be honest..

Would think at least 3 weeks needed otherwise just let it be.

Yep my 2 cents... lol Bad title/good question...
Thankz...

Topping is usually done to control the canopy height and can increase yield by having more buds in the best light. Its all so strain dependent though. I wouldnt suggest that topping increases yield for all strains. It can reduce yield in some strains.

this is veri interesting talk bro, i usually top 3 or 4 plants every run, normally i veg. for 3 weeks than flip to flow, i top plants between 5° and 6° internode...around day 15 / 18 veg. , than 3/4 day more veg. and flip to flow.
"sure i get a positive increment of the final weight when i top like this., confirmed. (i see this on my test in the grow)".

but sure you find nice and complete guide for training your plants!!
