Hi does anyone know how I should top my plants? I have 8 bl. wdw plantz. So I'm looking to put about 4 female plants in 5 gal containers. My goal is 2. Oz. per plant. They will be in a 3x3x6 space under a 400 eye blue mh. Right now they are on their 3rd or 4th set of true leaves.

When u see 5th or 6th node pop out cut the main/top steam off. This will force lower branches to grow faster to catch up with the top ones. I cut the bottom branch off also. That will leave 8-10 main colas. And side branching

Follow Farmers lead on this one. He done good with a similar space.

I topped my plants similar to as described and ended up with about 30 good sized colas. 3 plants 2x4x5tall tent. 400w.

Good luck!

I top the main top, apical meristem, then when the next two-four shoots become the mains top those to. Rule of thumb is to top 2 weeks prior to flowering to allow decent lateral growth for good buds.

What happens if you top just before blooming. There's really no point in topping like this, these would have been better as a single cola. To this plants credits it did get severly stunted during the time it was going to stretch.

Alright so I'll top at the 5th or 6th node. So you say one plant will produce 8 colas? lools like it would extend the veg time just a bit.

Wide is like a bush. Check Out my pics if you would like to see. I veg mine this time for 6 weeks from seed. You will see light color change when it was switched. They showed pre hair at 4 weeks from popped out of dirt. You can go shorter time as people flip there light by size alone. But my pics are an example. I did though have mine at 24/0 light 1000w so strain and conditions will change Every thing. All your doing is cutting off the top. Every thing els should blow up. If the rite nutes and environment. Other wise it will grow tall. And again strain. And there are other opinions but looks like you what to go this rout.

Cool so this will be my second attempt at topping plants. The first time I tried it I vegd too long and they got too tall for flower and I tossed them out. I topped late so it looked like I would have ended up with two main colas similar to that guys pics above. I am limited to only 4 plantz this grow so I'm trying to make the best of it. Thanks for the replies

You'll be sweet sc1 just go with the flow, If you top one shoot then two take its place, you top those two and four will take it's place. You want to top those four and 8 will take its place, veg them out and you'll get 8 main colas a plant if that's what you want. Good luck mate you've got this.

There is a way too do your math for space. Measure and take away light space pot space and light distance from your 6feet, if you don't know the stretch of the plant go to seed finder.com. Take the stretch in to account and what you have left will be vege. U kinda gotta figure you plans size and stretch on your own. The site will give u a % of how much more it will grow. If it gets to bushy thin it out and or LST
