i wouldn't. it'll severely reduce the amount of bud you get in the end on whatever part you top. should've done it in the veg cycle. if you haven't put it into flowering yet or have only just, and have a lot of time to play with, i'd take it back out if you really want to top it, let the top recover and grow out the resulting 2-4 tops (depending what tech you've used) for a few more weeks and then put back into flowering. if you don't have much time at all, just leave it. hope that helps

we did an FIM (fuck i missed) top tech which resulted in 4 tops growing on a lower branch 1 week into flowering, just to see how it'd go compared with the opposite side. it yielded 5g (wet, 1.4 dry) at the end of 8 weeks, compared with 30g (7.5g dry) on the other natural side.

The only time I've seen someone recommend topping in flowering is on that video on utube with greenman. I think you want to top in veg and let the new shoots grow because that is where you want the buds to grow at, and if you wait till flower to cut the shoot the plant doesn't have enough time to grow it's new shoots properly, it's too busy making flowers!

I agree with darwinsbulldog, I also FIM`d about a week into flowering on one of my plants. She is definetly the smallest yeilder, compared to my single colas that have maybe 3 or 4 times the amount of bud. She also went through quite a stretch afterwards. She stopped producing any new bud after about 6 weeks where the others are still going nuts. I dont think I`ll FIM again, at least not that late in the game thats for sure....

No need to top it just bend it over or twist it over(a 300 degree should work) at the top. Now that your top is impaired slightly for about a week. The plant has to repair the vascular system to feed that part so all the growth hormone for that section has been utilized repairing the damaged tissue. Because the plant grows apically(christmas tree), the next set of branches below will become tops. Don't make too many tops otherwise the root system might be too small and you end up with itty bitty nugs, unless you are literally growing a monster. The top will be stunted for about a week or less. This gives you the benefit of moving around some branches you might not have trained. Also prune a little bit, less than 5% of the total plant where it will benefit the singular bud. Training also will increase yield and the potency. If you turn the plan into a flat(vertical or horizontal) canopy then every single bud is now a cola. Colas have the largest potency. Start training the young shoots as they are the softest and easiest to manipulate w/o breaking, this can be done in seconds. You can also train the older tissue to lie flat but I recommend doing it over a couple of days/weeks. What I use for training are 1.5" length of garden training wire. I bought it at K-mart. Then I make the wire into an S, the middle of the S is the fulcrum of my lever. The top and bottom of the S are the "fingers" that keep the branch bent so I can slowly bend the over a couple of days which makes it LST.

I had to trim my Lemon Skunk around the 2nd week in flower due to the fact that she was stretching up into the light. It really was too late, because she never branched where I took the top off...luckily I cut it down pretty close to the next set of buds, so they ended up bulking up a bit more right after the chop.

Pic below of how she looks as of about 30 minutes ago (Day 41 in flower):
