Top 5 most popular strains in Cali?

Yeah pretty much right^^...BD is a growers dream as far as yields go...
The problem with the dream is there's so much of it and 90% of it is mediocre. Gives it a bad name.
I took some to almost 12 weeks and it was pretty damn good-had friends who are daily smokers hitting me up for zip after zip of it. I doubt most people even let it go nine or ten. It needs to go longer, it's the sativa in her.
Even when it's done proper it's still a bitch to get rid of, at least in these parts for the aforementioned reasons.

Hey Tom. I've noticed you work with only the afghan landrace and Haze. Well thats what you prefer to make seeds with anyway. So how come no OG in your line up? I've also heard that you plan to make S1's with many of the elite cuts out there.. is there any truth to that rumor?

Blue dream has been watered down lately, there is a couple cuts goin around but the one I had when it first came out was some dope, everyone loved it. then I got a cut from blue sky and another one from a friend and it was not the same thing, less blueberry influence in it, slightly smaller yeilds. I recently found out a friend had kept the one a alive and might get a cut fom him, loved that cut.

Now let's move you outside for a minute. Okay you have 99 holes, you can grow 350 units of GDP @ $1800 vs 700 of Blue Dream @ $1500. Okay go! :)

those are some low low low #'s

you should be getting at least 10 per in the Cali sun

10x10x2 raised beds get you up around 15 per

Yeah GetMo I used to be under the impression it was just one clone but it seems like there's a few.
The one I have is fat yielder and definitely blueberry leaning although the haze is there. Open a p of it and smells like blueberry muffins. Really nice.

I do the chunkier BD, the same one Nomaad runs. I am looking at high scores across a huge percentage of the board over here. It has a massive environmental niche, it runs through the trimmers without hang-ups, it keeps better than most, looking at down town julie brown over here with a number cuts (chem 4 goes brown when you exhale into the sack lol), but not that one, stays good for months in deplorable storage conditions. It get me high, yeah, this one's got some things going for it. So does trainwreck when truly all is added up. This is how both individuals as well as lines should be judged, across the board, this is what fills the dispensary shelves, this is really what's going on man.

blue dream.. gdp... chem4? I gotta say, the commercial herb you guys peddle out in cali is a bit disappointing. Please don't take this offensively I'm just stating the obvious as a New Yorker. Only haze and sour d are regularly available over here so maybe my standards are a bit high as a result who knows?

Hey Gerard yes, I am selfing many popular clones over the past decade+ currently. I am all caught up with my duties in the maintenance of 5 inbred lines, and am faced with the diddling around among them, vs building a broarder library of germplasm. I am going with the latter, as it fits with other projects currently in the works. I also feel it is the best use of my time in the longer-term view.

Don't assume you are seeing the complete California market there in NY bro, that's like judging Canadian bud by what they choose to off down here. :)

True.. I just remember trying some of what was available as blue dream in particular n being really turned off. Supposedly there's two versions of BD out there, one being a straight blueberry x haze and the other being blueberry x SSH with the former being the better one in almost all aspects. So anyway you have five IBL's of which I'm aware of four. North Indian, Haze, X18, and Deep Chunk. I'd guess the 5th is Pine Tar Kush? Also that germplasm sounds like interesting stuff I better look into it

What's so dissapointing about it?
What would you rather see?
Those strains done well are very good.
I certainly wouldn't say sour d and chem4 are any better, although my experience with those strains is limited but enough to know they're not that much greater, if any, just different.
For example, I'm not a big fan of the way chem strains taste, other people love it...but they're strong.

The top 5? It changes year by year, some years ago it was Schrom, Ogre, Blue Dot, Sour Diesel and Cheese. Blue Dream, Purple Urkle, Super Silver Sour Haze, etc. etc., it all depends on the flavor of the month.

Deep holmes..

Yeah the SourD is like a clock-watcher, wants to get off of your head inside of 30min, kinda cracky, but okay.

I think here on the east coast anything which produces a sleepy, indica like high is generally viewed as schwag. Not sure why that is but it seems to be the norm. So GDP, CHem etc. won't cut it. The sourD is more sativa so maybe thats why it does so well.

Thats not really true being a New Yorker myself, and knowin tons of dealers from high school still..... They claim to have anything (og,chem, sour, haze hybrids like Sour Cream, cheese, blue,NL, kush, purp, ect ect) the only problem is are they legit? Hehe

Ie perhaps the average NY'er values both time and space much moreso than to comparatively waste 4 hours of it watching the world go by saying, man.
