Tool for calculating a given amount water?

The best i can come up with are inline gallon counting meters. Thats nice, but your constantly having to keep track of numbers if your not using the whole reservoir each time.

Then theres the tanks/barrels with hashmarks that show you how much water the unit is holding. In most cases these are not a very accurate means of finding a precise amount of water such as to the individual gallon , especially if its a larger, wider tank.

Aside from weighing the reservoirs, or measuring, them each time, is there a tool that you can just stick in the tank, and it will tell you how many gallons/liters are in it?

Well yes thats nice if you have a perfect cylinder or square. It gets more complicated when you have a graduated reservoir. I.E. The length and width of the top is longer than the length and width at the bottom.

What I do is empty my REZ completely and pour in 4 gallons at a time. After I put in the first 4 gallons, I use a market to draw a line in the rez. Keep repeating until you have more lines in your rez and then you'll always have a good idea of the amount.

Make a dipstick. Use the stick of your choice. Pour 1 gallon into the rez. Stick the stick in, pull it out and put a mark. Pour in another gal, mark it, and so forth. Good luck. -granger

U can put a elbow in the bottom of the res., then run a dark colored see thru tube up the side of the res, and attach it to the top.

Fill up the res in increments and record it on the indicator tube. This way u don't have to open up the res and look inside to see how full it is.

thanks guys. Hey meds, thats a good idea. I did that a ways back and it worked great. The only downside is filling the reservoirs gallon by gallon, and marking the water level on the tube. But hey its a once and done process. Cheers
