Too much air/overkill?

Ok, I currently run a passive air-cooled 600 in a sj 120 (4 x4) I just feel like it's massive, loud and Overkill to run my 6 inch inline for one 600 ... Even with a speed controller. Any one else feel that way or think I'm cray? Passive blowin into scrubber, and venting into the 15x 11 room tent sits in

Not at all. It's exactly what I use. Remember that the fan not only replenishes CO2, it
also removes gallons of water each day. I run mine full bore for 12 lights-on hours and 15min
per hour when the lights are off. Also run it 30min after the lights go out, as RH goes through the roof at lights-out.

Yeah I see what ur saying. Just "seems" giant. *So 15 min every hour during dark? I have been keeping mine same speed all *24 blowin thru scrubber, ... Do you think that's too much rh being pulled when plants are transpiring less, do you do that for pocket wealth (saving energy) or plant health?

Both. Plants leaves kinda shut down at 'Night'. But 0 air exchange is not good. It's just my solution with the means at hand. (Analog timer)

I run pretty much that same schedule, except with a 1000w and a DR150. Run from the hour preceding lights on to the hour after. Overlap just to make sure that the light is never on when the fans are off. Then run 15 minutes on and 45 minutes off during dark hours.

If noise is the issue there are several ways to control that:
1. Sound dampening. Using insulated ducts before and after the fan will muffle a lot of the noise coming from it. Before I had insulated ducts I just wrapped t-shirts around them.
2. Lower the fan speed. I prefer to use a variac for this. I believe it is the most effective and safe way to do it. You will find other people who disagree.
3. Set it up with the least amount of curves and favor straight pipes over ribbed flexible ducting.

You can use any combination of these things to reduce noise.

I don't think a 6" is too much. I've got a 4x4 and the way I have it set up is I have 2 fans. One is a 4" vortex and it runs 24/7 to keep things moving and then I have a 4 speed blower that I took out of an old furnace hooked up to a thermostat and 10" ducting. I've only had to use the low speed but I might need to use a higher speed in the summer or when I start to flower. I've got a 1k in there now for vegging but I'm going to put 2 stacked 600's for flower.
I think its always better to go bigger than you need for ventilation and then you can always dial it down. Its better than finding out you can't keep your temps under control in the middle of summer.:2cents:

AK what size inline are you running in that 5 x5? Yeah insulated ducts is the only piece to the puzzle I'm missin. Summer , June July are no go s either way, I don't have a great setup to run ac full blast and power a flower
