Toke Talk

Has toking lost its social element?

Maybe it's just my experience, but I'm noticing less and less people simply get high, sit, and enjoy each other's company. They're always watching that damn television or something.

Toke Talk used to be sacred.

yep. since becoming legal. legality gave it a surge, more people smoking and all, but... it's lost its cool factor. being able to find weed being as a skill is a lost art. Driving to a bad neighborhood and going to a house. Finding smokers in a crowd. Sweating bullets, because you can go to jail for the qp in your trunk, and you can't wait to get back and roll one. Gathering with friends at the holidays and making edibles.

Now you can go to a store and buy it.

yeah, i've noticed that, too.

too much television and not enough stimulating talk.

I used to smoke with a group of people and we had the best conversations about anything and everything. It was a blessing to be able to smoke and talk with some good music going. It really had a nice atmosphere and the people were open to talk at length about social topics, the government, conspiracies, etc...

I love a good talk session when stoned.. At my old place we used to cut the TV off or mute it.
Now I'm married we only smoke outside so no TV to interfere.

Any one who doesn't do the 'deep chat stoner sessions ' is missing out, imo

I haven't witnessed it myself but I could easily see things headed that direction. See in the past when it was less accepted people had to be more discrete and therefore tended to congregate in garages, basements, workshops and other places typically not equipped with TV's. Now that it's becoming more and more acceptable and places like basements, garages and workshops are becoming more frequently equipped with TV, the TV is stealing the show.

In all honesty its not that people have stopped getting stoned and talking its that you (we) and your friends have grown old and boring, already had the deep philosophical conversations a hundred times and pretty set in your (our) way.

I have a sister in law 15 years younger than me and her and her friends don't even have a tv in the main room, and they sit around getting high chatting shit every night of the week.

I think it really depends on the people you hang out with. I have one stoner group of friends that likes to talk and another that like to watch movies/tv. The talkative one is much more fun

If I start talking about how I miss that, my life will turn into a Ben Stiller movie.
