Hi guys... Here's my writeup on my toasted plants.
HYDROPONICS/Aero Ponics
How long has this problem been going on? for approx 5 weeks
What system are you running? (DWC? Ebb flow? Aero? Water Farm? Flood Tables? and so on...) ebb and flow tray
What STRAIN are you growing? sour d
What was the establishing technique? (Were the seed or clone?) clone vegged 6 weeks
What is the age of your plants? approx 12 weeks
How tall are the plants? they would be about 4 feet but they're scrogged
What PHASE are the plants in? (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in? flower week 7
What Technique are you using? scrog
What substrate/medium are you using?(Hydroton, RockWool etc.) hydrotn
What is the Water temperature? 65-70 depending on lights on
What color are your roots? White? Brown? Are your roots slimy? can't really tell since they're buried
What Nutrient's are you using? How much of each if using multiple? I'm using advanced nutrients 3 part using a ratio of 20-40-60 for gmb (per 5 gallon) with big bud during weeks 1-6 and overdrive for 7-8. I'm also using zone and sensi cal. I'm using r/o water.
What is the TDS/EC/PPM you are using? when added, it's usually around 800. The res scoots up pretty quick to 1500-1700. Usually after a 80% flush (it's hard to flush the bottom portion) ppm is at about 1000-1250
What is the pH of the "Tank"? I try to keep it between 5.5-6
Are you sure your calibration is correct on your equiptment? Not sure. I can recalibrate the ph meter
When was your last watering? water 3 times a day during lights on
What is your water temps? I'll check on this
When was your last feeding change? (ie. grow-bloom-micro-additional) I do res flushes on sunday
How often do you clean your system: example: Flush out water replace with clean water and nutrients? once a week
What size bulb are you using? 600 hps, air cooled in a silverstar ac hood
What is the distance to the canopy? 10-14"
What is your RH Factor(Relative Humidity)? right now it's reading 42%
What is the canopy temperature? I have a guage from HD that reads temp and humid. It is 80-83 on the screen in the middle with lights on. At night it's 66-67
What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include flucutaion range) 14*
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.) I have a 12" oscillating fan on everything
Is the fan blowing directly at plants? aimed toward the space above the plants to cool the light
Is your water HARD or SOFT? r/o water
What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water? r/o
Has plant been recently pruned, cloned off of or pinched - no
Have any pest chemicals been used? If so, What and When?- some powdery mildew, but not so much now.
Are plant's infected with pest's - nope, not to my knowledge
Anyhow, the symptoms I'm getting are dry, almost cooked leaves. I am running c02 which is controlled by an extreme greenhouse controller (the one with the ppm monitoring). I was getting some heat stress previously (well, more than now) and adding the c02 and keeping it at 80-82 solved that one. I had problems with that during week 3 and 4 of flower. Since then temps have been stable (I ac the room). Oh yeah, this is in a 3 by 3 hydrohut, one of the old ones several years old.
Is this a case of nute burn from the fluctuations up on the ppm? Should I just finish these guys at a really low ppm?
Next run I'm going to seal the res. I believe that a ton of water is evaporating causing some of the fluctations up in ppm. PH is pretty stable and takes minimal work to maintain.
