To much drip waste?

Hi everyone, i am doing a drip to wasteI have figured out now that it's not the timer. There are 25 plants to one 64 gal rez with 2 stakes in each plant. The weird part for me is that after the drip system floods there seems too be to much waste coming out even though I down sized a pump and it's only flooding for a minute. the waste will be dripping out slowly for about 5 minutes even though some plants don't even feel like they were that watered although not dry? My other question would be if the leafs are curling down and the ridges are fringing in could this be a sign off not enough water??? Also is there any way my tables being raised on one end by 2 inches so the water will drain out too much and maybe affecting the pressure of the system?

Thanks For YOU HELP

Depending on what type of drippers you have you might want a nice size pump with a timer that can be dialed in by seconds not minutes.

The basket dripper stakes are supposed to be used with high pressure so the stream of water is stong enough to spray against the basket and disperse water over the medium.

Pressure compensating drippers or button drippers like at lowes or homedepot dont spread water as good but are easier when trying to use a small pump.

Sounds like you might be getting nute burn or lockout due to the medium drying out and having to high of an EC after water evaps.

When using drain to waste it is a good idea to irrigate with plain ph adjusted water regularly. Some do this by using a feed, water, feed or feed, feed, water schedule. A setup that uses two reservoirs (one for nutes and one for plain water ) makes it easy to do this. This way you wont get fertilizer burn and you wont have to waste a shit load of nutes.

I defiantly figured out the problem. I realized even after the pumps went off water was still being pulled through the drip system. This is because my pump was rising higher than ten the drip system so pressure was pulling water through it! Im so glad I figured it out was driving me crazy!

Does anyone have any advice on how I can fix my pumps from pulling water into my plants even after the pumps turn off.... I know they need to be lower then the actual drip system but they are still pulling lots of water in to them. I also tried a loop above the rez this still did not work. They are 64 gal trash can rez into a 24 drip stake system. I need to figure this out so tiered of waking up every time because I have to pull the pumps out everytime or else water will be everywhere because they don't stop even after the pump timer turns off! PLZZ someone anyone! THANK YOU

They sell check valves that you install in-line with a garden hose at lowes, home depot, or hydro store. They are basically a antisyphon oneway valve that uses the water pressure to break the seal and then when the water stops being forced through the line the seal closes.

Also if you are using a small pump you might be able to poke a drip line connector into the supply line at the highest point connect a 1/4'' line onto this and fasten it so that it runs up the wall to the ceiling, leaving the end of the tube open to the air.
This will stop the water from draining out of your res by creating a balance with the atmosphere and the inside if the supply line, but if the pump is to powerful it will blow water out the top every time the pump runs.

just add another dripstake line above the water level and back to the res. it will break the suction and stop unwanted dripping

I just use one of those 1/4" elbows shoved into the feed line near the top of the rez, and have it pointed back down into the rez. This prevents the siphoning effect.
