Have these 3 inside thus one is Kush x N.L.? I would have to check on the strains.

Ive been watching the Trichs supposedly the kush is a 70 day and the other two are 50 dayers cut the trichs have remained clear on both, it is now somewhere in the 60 - 65 day mark. Now, after some rainy wet days ive started to notice some mold on the two shorter flower time plants. I have no probs in taking those down as they are not going to produce much anyway, and i have some new ones id like to get in. this Kush However looks so beautiful that I would like to do her right...the hairs are turned the buds are swollen and the molds creepin in..what should I do??

after I posted this I started reading some other trich "doneness" posts and now im wondering where do trichs go amber from first? bottom of plant top of plant? how does that relate to pistil hair color?

Trichomes don't all have to be amber to be ripe. When the trichome heads are swollen and juicy, and the color of the heads ranges from milky white to amber/red, it's time to think about harvesting.

The pistils die off as the flower is about to give up trying to find pollen. Once the majority of the pistils have died and turned red/orange, the pot is usually about ready to harvest.

Of course, some hairs turn red early in flowering too, this is usually a result of a hermie somewhere in the garden who has pollenated the pistil. Once a pistil recieves pollen, it will die, as if ripening. So these early red hairs are not an indication of ripening. These hermie pollenations often lead not to fullly mature seeds, but to tiny seeds the size of pepper grains. These are immature seeds, but seeds nonetheless. They reduce the taste of the smoke, and most folks don't know they're even there. A vast majority of even the best smoke in the world has these tiny party poopers hidden in the bud - just gotta look for em.

I hope you flushed the plant out? That's a beautiful lady there, hate to see her get chopped and not taste right for ya. Another tip, harvest in the morning JUST before lights come on. She'll smoke and taste cleaner that way. In case you didn't know. ;)
Good luck,
cc

I'm with cdc..................after many times trying to figure out when the lady is ready based on the trichrome color, I just decided there is a certain "look" that tells me when she is ready. Seems this method works very well indeed.

yeah, i would go with the look but then I have to deal with my buddy who would say 70 days is 70 days and that if the trichs aint all amber then the plants aint done. you know the people..if it aint done by him it aint done right...he still says he aint had a plant done all the way so im tryin to accomadate him and let em go..but I think its time to chop and reload..........Im fairly sure that this pot will get me stoned, whether its one day from now or one week from now. I dont expect the the return would justify the danger of mold especially since one beauty bud on the other plant just came apart in my hand...loaded with mold inside.

After further inspection.

I saved your pic to my puter so I could zoom in on it...What are those white spot's on the plant...? It look's like water droplet's. :chin: If so, that's your mold problem. I know it's to late for this grow, but next time drop humidity at end of flower. And don't water with a lawn sprinkler...lol :bat:

Peace, Out

yeah, thats water tryin to reverse the effects of heat stress.. didnt think sprayin em once would mold em.. especially since the humidity here had been low and they have a fan on them as well as a nice exhaust fan suckin out the spent air.but I guess I should know better..

My indica/sativa unk. strain has red hairs all over here now, but I know she has another 2 weeks left... must be a trait, I know she can't be ready yet, there is very little trich development.

peace

I found buying a simple 10X + magnifying glass was the thing to do.
Since buying this chaep simple item each crop i harvest some plants when the trichs are milky, some milky/amber and some mainly amber, that way you get a variety of high from one kind of strain, which helps with tolerance issues i can tell you.
