so im taking my clones out of their rapid rooters and notice that on a few that they literally have tens of these little crawling critters all over their nice new roots (on the outside of the plugs, didnt really see any inside the plugs)

and they werent small, it almost seemed like them feeding was making their bellies bigger

they seeme to look clear i suppose but they werent larvae, they had legs and were crawling around by the bunches

their bellies appeared to be a reddish/greenish color almost like an apple

and when i squeezed a few of them they popped

these things werent very small either, id say about as big as an ant maybe a little smaller

the clones were healthy and rooted however they were transplanted in to coco in pots and i dont want them to spread

any body have any suggestions on what i could be dealing with?

You have root aphids!!! You better deal with them quick or they will spread like a wild fire. If you have a chance to get new kids I would!!!

i would say your typical garden variety aphid.

treat with Zone (dutch master) / SM-90 or pyrethrin product(i.e. bug buster-o)

aphids are born pregnant, some will develop wings and fly to other parts of your room. look for ants as well they tend to farm aphids. I would pyrethrin bomb the room and treat the root zone with something also.

gnatrol works on the larvae of gnats
you've got aphids, and heaven help me.... i'm in the same boat
follow strawberrycough's advice.
dunk/drench your root zone with one of the aforementioned products and spray for the flying fookers. then reapply 2x a week at least until their gone. then continue on for another week just to be sure. then continue 1x a week as preventative maintenance.
good luck, brother....

peace, love & coco

100% root aphids. I would use azatrol first at full strength. Then follow 10days later. You can also use SM-90 with that! Remember Sm-90 is not available in Ca.
I promise you that it will be an uphill battle and you wont be able to get rid of em. But you can contain them until you finish. Then start fresh new kids and all!!!

funny thing is i had my local hydro store friend check it out for me and he said it is root aphids

he suggested using azatrol as well

my other friend suggested a bayer product called merit 75

im not sure which route is most effective but it sucks i got these things
their def spreading but oddly enough my plants are looking very healthy

Hopefully you caught them early enough to treat bro! Jump on em quick and you should be ok. Next time you get new kids dip your kids in Azatrol 1oz per 10 gal. Should solve your problem.
