Tincture alternate delivery method

I made some tincture yesterday using 151 proof rum and some good weed.
Its currently aging for a few weeks but I was wondering if anyone has ever maybe soaked cherries in the tincture say in a canning jar for a few weeks and how it turned out? Downing a shot is not that big a deal but I may try this and wondered if anyone else has and are the doses uniform? Also how long would they soak for? A local bar used to offer home made rum soaked cherries and thats what made me think about it.

I didn't know that this was possible and id like to know why you would want to make this? At what benefit?
