Tin Foil or White wall?

TUTIDO

I've read several different people who say if you can't use Mylar just go with white walls. Since mylar currently is not an option for me, in the closet I'm using I've covered the door with Tin Foil and Reflective Tape. I'm wanting to know what to do about the walls however. Should I do the same to them as well or is it really better just to go with the white walls arleady there? I'm looking for personal experience and evidence.

Go with the white walls,,,,,,,,,,and take the tin foil off you've already put up and paint that white too.
Tin foil can cause "hot spots" and could lead to burning on your plants ~ allegedly.

Painting the doors white is not an option, I rent, any other suggestions? And can anyone confirm that the tin foil might burn the plants?

YES...the tin foil will cause hot spots...NOT the best thing to do...perhaps you can apply some thin sheet foam(home depot/lowes) to the door w/small screws w/ washers or small amount of spray adhesive....put it on the door THEN paint it white...the foam will reflect but will do mUCH better when painted. OR you could get some black/white poly and hang it..

Alright, thanks very much for the advice, the tin foil is going to come down. I don't understand what you mean by poly though. Also what price should I expect from either of those solutions.

The foam is used for insulating...in the lumber dept. the black/white poly is thick plastic sheeting in rolls w/ Black on one side...white on the other. The foam is CHEEEEEEEEEP!!!

The "poly" is also known as panda film and usually runs about $1 a ft (10' wide). The foil is definitely a bad idea as it doesn't reflect light as efficiently as flat white paint. The styrofoam sheeting is actually a very good solution as well and usually runs about $5 for a 4'x8'x½" sheet and can easily be cut with a sharp utility knife.

If those options aren't available to you, you can always use some posterboard or cardboard painted flat white as long as it's not right next to the light.

Not really,, it's plaster-board

Remember the fire risks ... if you intend to nail anything to the walls PLEASE make sure it is well fixed

White plastic party tablecloths are available at dollar stores in my area...they are very large and can be hung on the walls with tape or thumbtacks....

sporting good store sells emergancy cold weather blankets like 54in W x 80 in L very reflective and cheap at walmart thier like 99 cents just be sure to hang stright no wrinkels can line whole closet with it.

as for tin foil ive used it many times its not the best but can be used in a pinch, hang it tinfoil dull side facing the grow hang it wrinkle free also dull side and wrinkle free will help to insure min hot spots. take a fan and have it blow across the foil to keep ambient heat from building up, make sure you have good strong ventilation when growing in the closet. you must bring fresh air into the grow and expell the hot old air out, or your bound for problems.

i noticed your a renter better have your shit wired tight buddy stealth like a mofo and no smell.

Renter of a house with a landlord outside of town. Actually slumlord, she doesn't come around unless rent's unpaid.

Thanks everyone very much for the advice, I didn't expect so many replies. I'll probably end up with the 99 cent blankets, but can't put them up until I get the ventilation completely sorted out.
