Timer question

Will one of these 15 amp timers support 2 400w lamps, and two small fans? I have one 400w plug into one outlet, and a power squid on the other outlet with another 400w and two small fans connected to the squid. Will this create any problems for my timer?

You know what they say 'bout opinions...

Just my opinion only...

I wouldn't trust one $20.00 timer for a all-in-one timer of any amp rating. It's what you pay for in todays world. Them small ones can't have very big relays in them to turn things on and off. I would have aleast three if not four of those. One for one light and maybe one fan and one spare. The less of a load the better I would say (Like half). For a little more then twice the price of one of those, you can buy a real "heavy duty" timer (One in a box that hard wires, analog) that would handle all that and then some. Lots of DIYs out there to make them a "plug 'n go".Try to buy one of those ASAP and use those wall timers for fans/small pumps.

And this comes from one very cheap bastard.

ok ... i have timer issues of my own, so i will tag-along on this thread ...

"Woods" timers ... these things fail after only a few days.

"Intermatic" timers ...same price as a "Woods" but mine lasted through almost 2 grows but has now failed .

jackson, or anyone else ... where can i get one of these "heavy duty" timers ? i cant use a digital timer because i have a couple of cfls in the mix and the package they come in specificaly says to NOT use a digital timer .

HELP !

With a digital you need a relay to take the load. You can get those at depot also way to much trouble in my book. Unless you doing some science or a big room with lots of lights not worth it. Under 15 amps KISS
