Time limits on curing buds? best long term storage? - legal troubles!

So a wonderfully(not so much) FUCKED situation happened today.. long story short - been going to court since last oct. for a non drug related offense.. today I was sentenced to 30 days in county with a credit for 8days served.. so basically a month from today I have to surrender myself and serve another 7 days and I got 24 months of probation on top of that(first offense)..await reporting instructions in 6wks, waiting on transfer to my county P.O.

I am about 3 weeks away from my best harvest to date.. I have already gotten it through my head that I will not be taking any chances and smoking for the next 24 months but I will still continue to grow in a new location and just store it till that date comes when I can toke worry free! Really fucking sucks not being able to taste the fruits of your labor after 4 months long wait :( ..at least i'll be able to harvest and dry before I have to go n serve the 7 days..

Anyways how long is too long when curing in jars? I was thinking after 3-6 months of being in jars maybe vacuum seal and fridge? Should be some bomb dank nugs after that long of a cure/storage that's for sure.. never gotten past 2 months cure.

Never had to store buds for that long so I wouldn't know what the best way to do it would b.. its usually smoked up within 3-4 months from harvest lol.. thanks in advance!:tiphat:

Thanks third:thank you:, I'm over it seriously.. I worried myself soo much I am literally tired from so many countless sleepless nights.. I only plan on looking forward from here on in.. I spent 8 hours fucking waiting in lines today at that courthouse.. I am happy I never have to go back to that fucked county(truly is) past my 7 day sentence..

I love growing.. not sure what else I would do with my time if I couldn't.. I am thankful its not for a weed growing offense.. that would be fucked in this state(IL)..

Have you ever sat there in your garden and just watched your plants for an hour or more at a time while smoking a bowl?.. its a total zenlike experience and it brings peace and calm to my mind n body, its been a daily ritual for me these past 6 months while i have been dealing with all this.. deff. will be my greatest test of patience yet.. not the end of the world I guess with the no smoking for 2 years but I deff. don't want this harvest to go to waste after all the care n love I put into it.

Sorry to hear about your troubles bro
but you can store your herb for up to a year no worries as long as you make sure it is dried properly, you don't want any moisture in the jar or vac sealed bag at all, if I had to do this I would make sure all the stems are snap dry, trim up any excess stem and leaves, then cure it for about a month, then jar it or seal it up and store away in a nice dark area that remains a pretty constant cool temp and in a yrs time you should be all sweet :D
I have no experience in using fridges or freezers for long term storage of buds, hopefully someone else who knows will chime in.
Wish you all the best bro with the court bullshit :tiphat:

Thanks for the kind words boom!:thank you:.. I think I'll attempt to do it that way.. that would make sense why you wouldn't want to leave it in the jars excessively long.. would prob. dry out in the sealed bag within a year ..I have always heard freezing is bad so I wouldn't even consider it, but like the veggie drawer in a small bar/fridge that isn't kept excessively cold might help prolong storage I was thinking.. as its both dark and cool and controlled.

Was also thinking maybe vacuum sealed then put into air tight jar with tight rubber gasket seal(big 1gal ones) and possibly throw in a few humidi-packs in the jar and keep it sealed in a cool place.. those things kick ass(perfect rH %).. I keep 1 in my jar and it keeps the herb fresh.. never dries out nor does it add more moisture than it needs(two way reverse osmosis membrane, pure h2o).. so it smokes perfectly.. should be starting my flush in a few days I'll post some pics up of my pride n joys of the moment lol:tiphat:

Deoxy, there are some threads on the ic about long-term cures. Some members have discovered jars a year after jarring them and they're still good. As long as you keep them air-sealed in a cool, dark places 24 months should be fine.

If I can throw out a warning...be super careful about growing where you live (or at a residence that is listed on your driver's license). It might not be all states, but in some, your PO or the cops can search your residence at any time when you're on probation.

yeah I figured it's not Rocket Appliances, but still thought I would ask any who have did it what they might of did that worked well for them and what to stray away from in terms of storage.. most people don't store a harvest that long from 2 years ago.. and it's only gonna keep piling up on me so I have to do something lol.. gonna be intresting just smelling it and staring at it for the next 24 months

I'm already on top of this.. I have postponed starting any more seeds and put the rest of my cuttings to flower a couple weeks ago.. I will now focus on maintaining my mothers while I break down the space for a couple months and clean and disinfect the room and figure out and fix where my mites keep coming in.. I plan on building a stealth cab and placing it in an obscure place in this house.. I don't mind downgrading a bit from my measly 8 sq. ft. tent for a while.. thanks for the heads up tho.. good looking out!

as long as the buds are properly dried first...then you can store long term. but if you store your buds before they are fully dried it will mess up the smell. for easiest i would just throw them into turkey bags after the stems snap....burp them a few days but after 2 weeks or so you can just leave the bag as is...

vacuum seal also works reallygood..good luck with jail hope you got some commissary..

@ Dawn Patrol and Maj. Cottonmouth - thank you both, I have indeed actually read simons thread.. have it bookmarked, I plan on trying this method in the near future when I get some dependable hydrometers to place into jars.

@ Yes4prop215 and mowood3479 - lol yea the first 8 days I spent there last oct. I miss putting in for a commesary order.. I got their 2 days after orders were due and missed the next week as I got out the same day they delivered the second weeks order.. this time I get there on a thurs. the day they deliver the orders and will be out by the following wed. so again I won't be able to.. owell, nasty jail food will just have to do for the week.. might have to do a little commesary betting and get some on the house like last time rofl.. thanks for stopping by w/ kind words and chiming in :)

I end up growing more than I can consume or give a way, so the "extra" I make BHO out of and store in a deep freezer vacuum packaged. I can't imagine any chemical reaction taking place that would change the composition of that over many years. I do keep some of the different strains from the years for taste pleasure, and the potency sure does go down after about 2 years. That said, I can still get plenty high off of a durban poison I grew 7 years ago and just keep in a tin at room temperature. And it tastes special still.
