This is odd....

One of my Jack Herer Girls has gone a funny colour

It's in the same soil as all the other plants and has had the same water and everything else, yet she's all pale on the new growth.....




Do you think she's just odd or might there actually be a problem with nutes??

They look pretty dry Alex, other than that, I dunno, watch it's growth rate compared to the others, a couple of days should show if its a prob. How are the night time temps, cold? Just thinking that it may be preparing to turn purp, but the colours aren't great on that photo. Where is the discolouration, old or new growth? Standard rules are if new growth is good, that's what's important.

she's all pale on the new growth.....

That is the weirdest thing Alex don't think I have ever seen that in a seedling... and from the stem outwards it apears... i just don't know sweetie.. i am interested in what some of the experts have to say though...

and the only time I think I have seen yellowing from the stem out is on older plants that had mites... so, You got me, man....

good luck though on finding out what it is... and maybe its not something that bad..

i'll bite

my first thoughts were pH (a "hot spot" in the soil or nute solution), disease, radiation/poisoning, or genetic mutant...a closer look made my head spin lol, familiar with jack and this is very-unjack lol its a tough plant that deals with environmental stress, and pH issues quite well, also overfert is rarely a problem.
jack isn't a picky bitch, maybe yours is different.

my money is on environment, whether it be above or below the soil.... that or it's going to die this week, freak of nature? root infection or parasites? root death? who knows? hope not alex Jack is an awesome strain, and tough, but keep an eye on the pH even tho it's not showing any classic signs it's quite possible it hit something it didn't agree with in the soil.

hopin she takes a turn for the better, keep her well watered...

I have seen this before on plants that never did it before and I never really figured out what caused it. I dont think they were deficient and perhaps it is a slight mutation.

They can grow fine. BOG

It very well could be a genetic quirk. Interested in hearing the answer to that "have you used nutes" question though.

The thing that obviously out of place, is the age of the plant. It appears very young, which would lower the chances that it's a type of deficiency. With that being said...I have had an occasional bean pop with Mg issues.

How old is she?

Well...the effected area is typical for micronutrient deficiency. Zinc, and Iron deficiencies are both similar in appearance to your plant....but not exact.

Most often, micronute problems are caused by pH. If you can confirm your soil pH, you can rule that out and relax, or adjust it before it gets worse. If your numbers look good, then maybe you just have a freak on your hands.

That's just the top layer, water is fine.

Are you giving that seedling nutes?

Of course not I meant generally what's in the soil! (just for info, I used a different soil this time)


@BOG the mutation was my thought too. It's a Female Seeds Jack Herer, don't know what they do to make the seeds female

Anyway, the thing which get's me is that this is the only one out of 13 plants (various strains, see link in my sig) in there all in the same conditions, that's showing this trait

This is a sulphur defiency.It's not obvious in the Icmag help section but here on OG you will find a picture just like yours.

I'm repeating myself all over these threads but,hey,trust me this stuff works:
Cal-Mag plus or equivalent will solve your problem right away.
What water do you use?
This problem is common using R/O or distilled water.
