Farmer John, the top one looks like an orchid (arghhh Rolando don't shoot me if I'm wrong LOL :D) the bottom one looks like...uhmmmm....I don't know what it is in English but in Italian its ciclamino, a fairly common house/garden plant. I think. LOL :biglaugh:

Thanks for the comments! As for the flowers, I think the first one is maybe a Japanese iris, not really sure. Next time my girlfriend is over I'll have her take a look, she's quite knowledgeable. I just more have a knack for growing things.

I think it's a great idea to do some photos with both kinds of flowers. Nothing that exciting blooming at the moment, but there is a rather exotic dendrobium that's had buds developing for the past three weeks or so; it's still going to be another two at least before they open. Be glad cannabis isn't in the orchideae family, they are some fussy and slow growing plants!

Cheers! :friends:

Really nice pics folks. Beautiful orchids RM. FJ the first one I also believe is an iris, the second one - ding ding ding 2000 pts to blue - is a cyclamen...

Well here goes - my first pics...
Since the *real* grow hasn't started yet. I love to garden, and I also love to grow bonsai. First picture is a Wisteria I trained as a tree in our front yard, second is a 16 year old bonsai Satsuki azalea in bloom last spring. -MGJ

MGJ those are stunning! Both of them! I wish I could, but no garden...so I can't, I'll just have to contemplate yours

NICE!!
that wisteria must have been a true LABOR of love.
keeping it under control like that.

back where i lived on the east coast that stuff is bringing down groups of mature loblolly pine trees at a time.

it grows wild all through the backyard where i used to live.
it's an awesome sight when it did bloom but unfortunatly wild patches tend not to bloom annually unlike commercially available cultivars.

so, we were only blessed with thier beauty every few years. the rest of the time it was just the unfortunate effect they were having on the trees we got to see

Very nice, I just purged all of my photos off my pc:( (I do have backup copies, but too much effort this early), as I love growing flowers to almost anything. Awsome shots everyone!

This thread is right up my alley! :) Hello all! Here's a few that I've got blooming at the moment.

Still learning the formatting over here.

Speaking of those Passion Flowers... aren't they supposedly psycho-active? As in, you can get a relatively decent buzz from smoking the dried leaves or flowers?

This may just be a Texas rumor, cuz these things are REAL popular here.

I know that passiflora is used in herbal medicine as a potent sleep inducer, but of course they use an extract
