Thinking of going into business building predesigned cabs

I am thinking of creating an online business where people can pick their cab model (c-22, c-24, maybe one more size for a smaller type grow), choose a lighting/ventilation combo.

I would assemble the cabinet, add a sturdy plywood backing, precut all the venitlation holes, add darkroom louvers and ship it off. I would want it to be like a "dell.com" type experience where people can choose from a list of available components to suit their needs.

Any advice? I have an associate who can put together the site for me, and I have quite a bit of experience building grow cabinets. I know a lot of people have problems in this area as I see question after question here about building cabinets. YOu think this is a viable idea?

As far as the cabinet goes.......

I would drill all ducting/vent holes, install dark room louvers, make opening for all wires/cords and make pilot holes for all screws. The the whole unit will be dissassembled and packed for shipping.

It's not a bad idea but look into the shipping costs on something that size. By time you buy all the parts, assemble it, mark it up, add shipping costs, you are looking at one expensive cabinet. You better find some wholesale prices on at least some the parts if you want to make it worth your while.

I would definitely get some sort of insurance on the off chance that one of your cabs burns down their house.

Of course, you can always put a disclaimer on there stating something to the effect of: "Hey, if this burns down your house, don't blame me."

This reminds me of those web sites that will throw a modchip on your xbox or PS2 and ship it off to you. Damn I love those sites. Isn't the Internet wonderful?!

Shipping costs will kill your buisness. Its best to go with a Homebox or Hydrohut type of setups.

i think it would be a great idea, but as said, the shipping cost would be horrible, now if you could find a way to drive it to us ;)....good luck and keep the dream alive
