Thermometer quality

Okay so i bought a accu rite thermometer from lowes. It comes with a remote sensor.the remote sensor works from a very far distance. My home thermostat says 72 and the thermostat says 75.My dehuey says 40% the thermometer says 45%? Im pretty sure its off.Anyone else experience this?

Electronic devices, especially RH meters always seem to be off.. The cheaper ones cannot be calibrated and sometimes they are stored impropeply, and inaccuracy accumulates, due to corrosion etc.
As far as I know 5% off for a hygrometer is a fair compromise.

Agree with Scroggy B. If you check the specs of cheap electronic thermometers and hygrometers on EBAY you will see that 2 degrees + or - and 5% RH + or - accuracy is almost universal.

Thanks for the responses.Ill try to remember the differentials.I guess when money allows i will get a more expensive model.

Get an old mercury glass thermometer , best accuracy , use this to calibrate.

For cloneing temp range you cant beat an alcohol medical type , stick one in the bubbler or push into the media.

The temp sensors built into cheap pH meters are especially innacurate.
