The Young Craftsman - Gamefish Ashtrays and other Travesties of Bad Taste

Here is a page I scanned from a book titled "The Young Craftsman", published by Popular Mechanics in 1943.


There are equally as scary projects on other pages, but I picked this one for the initial post as I love the expression on the guy's face.....he really don't look too sure about the whole gaping-fishmaw-ashtray thing.....he looks sketched out.....as he has a right to be.

I will post more form this heinous book, if folks are amused by this sort of wanton display of bad taste and weirdness.

If I'm not mistaken Popular Science or Popular Mechanics will be (or may have already) be putting on a similar book. It's basically articles from all the future technology that we thought would exist by now...flying cars, personal teleporters, etc. Should make for some wacked out reading.
