the (slow) rise of canna-tourism

there are resorts in Colorado, bed & breakfasts etc, that advertise as 420 friendly. some of them have cannabis (gratis) in the rooms for guests use etc. why am i not seeing this occurring in say...North Carolina and/or Virginia, where recreationally legal weed is now a fact? am i expecting too much, too soon? i'm thinking that folks that hike, flyfish, horseback riding, mountain bike, kayak, etc (source of many tourist dollars in this area) are "probably" quite commonly cannabis users as well. or are established B&Bs worried about potential backlash from non-users? if i was a member of the North Carolina Cherokee Nation, i would seriously be looking at package deals with cabins, flyfishing, kayaking, hikes on trails in the reservation....

My guess is that it's more a matter of too soon then too much. Concerns over alienating non cannabis using customers are fairly easily solved much in the same way as you make tobacco smoking and non smoking areas available. If canna-tourism turns out to be profitable and doable in a fairly safe way then I don't see states that have recently gone legal turning a blind eye to all those potential profits for too long. I'm thinking newer states to the recreational game are just playing it cautious for now while at the same time keeping a close eye on innovations made by states that have been recreational for some time. Which is actually smart in my opinion learn from others what works and doesn't work so you can copy the successes and avoid the failures.

Is Colorado bleak?
If you already have a tourism industry sailing along merrily, you wouldn't want to rock the boat. While somewhere with no established tourism, could use this as something to base visits upon. I mean... free weed and a change to see Airwolf rise from a vent. I'm still not going.

more (FAR more) common on west coast. there's wine/cheese tasting & cannabis bus rides, greenhouse and vineyard tours all up & down northern west coast. maybe i live on the wrong dang end of the country? i'm hoping the Cherokee take it up. they legalized Mediweed before the state got around to it, and have been sending reps to visit tribes out west with dispensaries etc, trying to get it right. their first vertically integrated one is due to open in 2022. pretty tight on quantities though. you can "only" buy an ounce a day, lol...

or have separate wings of the hotel, different cabins etc...

They have to deal with the "heavy smoker" situation.

e.g. when you check into a room, lay down on the bed, and realize EVERYTHING smells like tobacco smoke.

Sure you can pay a worker to spend a 1/2 hour de-funking the room.

But ... $$$ and shortage of workers.

Ventilation = Automation.

The last time that happened to me (Motel 6 on Cleveland in Santa Rosa ... actually there are 2 Motel 6's on Cleveland ... the North One), it was tobacco smoke.

I told them to give me another room, or to give me my money back.

Even if it had been Pot Smoke, it was that Funky.

Separate wing would have made no difference - in that one way.

But ... HELL YEAH ! have a pot smoking wing so people can share their meds.

I wish smoking clubs or lounges would become a thing. Like I want to go to a nyc type heroin jazz den with live trippy jazz and dark lights and lots and lots of smoke

LOTS of us do, lol. that is the exact image many folks that vote against legalization have in their heads of us ...the driving home afterward (legally) is a potential minefield. society letting you ride around fucked up as a football bat and burning one is way off over the horizon i'm afraid. sounds good, though, don't it? wooHOO!
