South Philly Italians some of my favorite guys in the trades to work with. They took no shit and didn't have filters in conversation.
So many funny stories.
My favorite. It's 6:00 am in center city Philly I'm standing out on the street with 3 guys from other trades drinking coffee before we start work. This 5' tall cocky Irishman from the NE who's with us says to the pretty well built blonde who walks by.. "Hey babe how's your melons smellin"
She turns, well dressed in a business suit and says "excuse me what did you say"
The cocky little carpenter says "You heard me, how's your melons smellin"?
10 maybe 15 minutes later she comes back. With her 6'4" well built Ironworker husband. I laughed my ass off as he pounded the crap out of the guy while saying "how's her melons smellin eh"
What made it so much funnier to me was that her husband worked in the trades.
Thank goodness it was a joke, you had me going.

Monday mornings were dangerous on a lot of job sites
a lot of the workers were either half drunk or fighting a hangover
seen a carpenter foreman back a concrete truck up and start pouring , before the finishers were ready
one of the finishers , Arkie , big blond haired kid from Arkansas , walks up to that carpenter foreman and drops him like a used match , a right cross on the jawline..
Arkie picks up his bucket of tools and says “See ya all on the next job “ and heads to the parking lot
seen grown men chasing each other with shovels , knives pulled , and no telling how many were concealed carry
never a dull moment on Monday mornings

Poor old Sissy is not doing well at all the past couple days.
Really has me concerned she is losing her back legs and is obviously confused sometimes.
Still eating and going for walks not whimpering or showing stress so not a bad quality of life still.
I hate to see them come to this time all we can do is keep her as comfortable as possible.
Methacarbamol and edibles are her friends and the only things that seem to work.
She has been a nearly perfect dog and I cannot recall her ever causing a problem.

It seems my boy Dutch prefers to spend most of his days at the foot of my bed just sleeping. If I go in and clap my hand and tell him we’re going outside he will struggle to get up and drag his back outside and then lay down in his favorite spot, it seems like Ivan is giving him a wider birth now and before. I honestly didn’t think Dutch would make it this long, but obviously he’s a lot stronger than I gave him credit for… I hope I’m emotionally strong enough to give him a proper burial… never had a perfect dog until I got Dutch… Ivan been a close second, but he has issues as do I…
We know about the 'confused' thing. Sometimes Maggie has obviously forgotten where/why she's going. It's like doggie dementia.

Sometimes I use lard but mostly vegetable shortening.
I am going to be making some Pyrahi this coming week I like to use a portion of lard/shortening on that recipe.
