Well here are 3 of the cars that started the original hp wars back in the late 60's and early 70's.

The 2009 chevy camaro -- concept has 400-hp, 6.0-liter

The 2009 dodge challenger--fitted with a 6.1-liter Hemi engine, which delivers 425 hp at 6200 rpm and 420 lb-ft of torque at 4800 rpm

The 2009 Giugaro Mustang concept -The 4.6-liter V-8 now features an intercooled, twin-screw supercharger plus Ford GT fuel injectors. Taken with increased intake and exhaust flow, the changes bump output to an estimated 500 hp.

So all 3 are basically priced approx the same and come with almost all the same options and pretty close to same hp and torque but which one makes ya twitch.

Sorry to folks not from North America as these are definitely detroit muscle
and not european or german or british or french, etc. They are the original muscle car rebirth of the late 60's and early 70's and are set to start a 40 year anniversary of drag strip showmanship once again.

Let the poll begin

BTW thanks to Old Man Time for his Tokers Den post - What kind of muscle car are you?

That is what got me thinking about this poll.

I agree

I agree

flexOr--I am a camaro fan myself , this is my baby since 1992,

Check the Old Man Time thread -- What kind of muscle car are you?,
and do the online survey to see what car you are, He deserves the Kudos as well because of that thread.
Combine his thread and a pot head and voila get this thread
:joint:

Out of those, with out a doubt the Challenger. When they bring the Chevelle back (if ever) THEN we will have a show.

Yeah never driven in snow , this was a sunny day so I thought I would turn the tires and dry the exhaust out abit , let her run for 15 minutes and took about 10 vanity shots :). Then back into indoor heated hibernation til may24
Salt is definitely washed from roads by then.

I thought the white made the car really stand out so that was another reason for getting it out and taking shots.

Recheck original post I am going to add more shots of the heavy thunder 3.

Dang, can't wait to here the sound of anyone being floored, imagine bare headers :yoinks: :yoinks:

Deaf would be not far off.

Although I have bowtie fever and really have a like for the new remake of a 1969 camaro (the concept on bottom is very KICKAZZ),I sure like the designing on mustang concept, always liked the scissor doors, gullwing , suicide etc. FORD don't seem to have the balls to rock the house other than Mustang right now.Conserative may lead to chapter 13 if they are not careful..I would love to see this concept STANG reach the streets.
The glass roof right back to tail spoiler is very very COOL, all weather convertible if only it had removable panels for the full hardtop convertible crossover.
The Dodge challenger is very sharp looking(saw a plumcrazy purple pic somewhere but can't find anymore),very powerful and very retro but almost to retro looking to the point of , where do we go from here??? on next model.Hope this is not the case.
The Camaro is futuristic but still retains the heritage of 1969 with discreet styling cues. It also gives them a huge canvas to expand on, as it is not to retro as to have nowhere else to go.

I am all for these three vehicles reviving a full out "I can do better than you can"- by the not so BIG anymore3 , bring it on. See ya at the next light :)

as much as i think cars are fucking awesome and the result of hard work and creativity of designers...

i think we need to be conscious of what is going on in our environment. i would much rather be able to breath fresh air and not worry about global warming...then drive a car that has bad gas mileage. We should be focusing on designing cars that don't tax our resources and keep America with foreign oil interests.

I like to ride my bike around as much as possible...because its good exercise, fun, and you don't have to deal with traffic. But sometimes a car is needed.

my 2 cents

BOY way to whack a greasemonkey right in the NUTS :bat: :badday: by going on an environmental kick right in the middle of a gearhead wet dream BOOO!!!! :bat: This is a poll so if ya dont like it then that is your right but always be careful with the environment thing unless you can back up a totally consumer free lifestyle (which based on the fact you can post means you have a consumer bought computer hooked to some means of hydro) cause it is a very sharp duoble edged sword.
As for gas mileage , i bet these will get 25km(18 miles)/gallon hwy or so. Not great but far better than any 1980-1995 6-8 cylinder probably uses and far more environmentally friendly emmisions than any 1980 -1995 as well.)

I agree on independance from foreign interests and oil but G DUBYA won't allow that to happen while he is in control. as for Canada, we could be fully self sufficient and do it quite cleanly with no help from The good ol USA or anyone else for that matter but --GREED --- errr, I mean Global Trade and FREE RAPE N PILAGE --errrr I mean FREE TRADE and humans pure and utter need to have it all n have it now ,will not allow it.

I like to ride on my bike too( is probably made with parts and or raw materials from the very countries we should not support), 6 months a year when my knees are ok ,and I can find the time, and I am not getting weekly groceries for a family of 4 plus 7 rescued pets which BTW also are a huge burden on the environment. but I am older now and I hardly leave my CASTLE at all. No real bar hopping or clubbing etc, :sasmokin: OH YAAHHH :sasmokin: bars really are bad as well for the environment, what with all the cold beerfridges running and lit draft taps and sound system thumping and lights flashing and door wide open with a blizzard outside and 1 million toilet flushes a nite and all the showers that were taken and all the perfumes that were washed down drains and all the cigarette butts in the parkinglot and and and and :bat:
Well, in order for me to PUT INSURANCE on my CAMARO/gas hog (not too terrible compared to a new Expedition or ESCALADE) . I must do less than 6,000KM(4000Miles)/yr, but in actuality have only put less than 9000KM(6000Miles) total on it in 14 years.Probably better tuned and more environmentally friendly than 3/4 of the daily drivers on the road
So as you see although I am not totally innocent, I consume alot less of the environment in this (monster to the environment), my only pleasure left, than say you would if you drive 1.6KM(1 mile) to work, 1.6KM(1 mile) home /per day average /5 days aweek for last 14 years. Not so bad, bet the monitor you look at is more energy consuming than my camaro is. Also in 14years I have washed my car exactly 20 times 1 time a year when it comes out then I just dust n polish with shammy rest of year, except for a wedding and a few dates back in the day those are the only washes. So it is quite friendly on the fresh water supply we have.

BTW I do agree that environment is an issue, but this is a WHAT HP WAR BIG CAR YOU LIKE BETTER POLL. I would like em all but could not afford to feed em the huge amount they would require as a daily driver, but pull it out on a Sunday and go for a trip to the beach n back( hoping of course there is no e-coli contamination in the water from the fertilizer runoff applied to our food crops and raw sewage runoff from the 500,000 to 1,000,000 head pork superfarms and 10,000-25,000 head dairy superfarms and the 5,000,000 to 10,000,000 head poultry superfarms, and the organic fert runoff and and and......)
Environment is important to all, but unless we will all give up at the drop of a hat everything that allows us to have this highspeed conversation, houses and heat and all and cars to drive and urban landsprawl and and and...

I moved so that I only drive 8KM(5 Miles) a day for work, not bad considering most people in urbanish settings do that running out for a dvd or smokes or to get papers or or or ,

As you can see by pics, a bicycle and a freeway to and from anywhere and 1 foot of snow don't cut it so reality says I drive.

But yes, I wish we had a magic wand to save the world environment, manmade or not. I would love for the Canadian gov't to issue tax credits like USA did so people can take advantage of green energy with wind and solar already here. But no they talk out thier ass and say oh we KYOTO this n sell n buy GREEN CREDIT that. BS, Give the consumer a reliable AFFORDABLE ALTERNATIVE fro the thieves, I mean energy companies they buy power and fueling from, why put hydrogen tanks in cars why not have hydrogen generators for your property that powers everything , including the full electric cell vehicle I would grab in a second if everything was affordable and so simple as I described it. Dang wish I could be Prime Minister for 1 year , just to get something moving thru parliment immediately for means of affordable alternative energy and self sustainability from the ever intrusive radical elements and crusty bottomless pocket politicians that have their hands all over the oiltaps.

But alas we must use 150w minimum 18 hrs a day just to grow our herbs, (that is what the website is really about)
Now add fans, plastic pots(oil derivitive), ferts in plastic containers, papers to smoke with from factories that probably arepowered by the very wood they destroy to make rolling papers with, but wait, we can vaporize, nono there you go sucking up hydro and or butane(NASTY,and not very ozone friendly I bet.)

Sorry man really dont' mean to be a prick , but until the leaders we vote in "cough, cough" actually do what is best for us the voters and not them the "country"(afew select rich ole crusts who give a rats azz about us the common folk ) then we will watch China and India follow down the path of gluttony we started, but at a rate that will destroy the natural resources of this world faster than the measly say 400 million or so (very liberal with numbers)North Americans and Europeans who may conserve could ever hope to conserve.

Don't get me wrong every little bit helps, but I believe that unless we see big conservation by countries as a whole. Like Brazil, who does not consume any of its own oil for fuel, instead ,using ethonal from sugarcane that also powers the very distillaries that produce the ethonal. Fully self sustaining unless of mass sugarcane crop loss.
I personally do blue box and walk or bike alot, I multitask when going into town, I do not water my grass and only cut 1 time per month, all my lights except flower are 15w cfl through whole house, all appliances are high efficiency, just installed radiant floor heating .I am on well and septic so do not over burden either the well or septic out of respect for this being my only means of water and refuse disposal. I try my best as an individual and family to do my part but COME ON LOOK AT THEM CARS MAN,,,pure heart pounding, sweaty palmed pleasure, from our yesteryear. I will be the old grey headed guy in that new Camaro you see beside you. Driving it for pleasure and on occasion pure ass whoopin power. So feel free to flip me the bird the thumb or the nose I really don't care. I conserve enough to allow myself abit of indulgence

On a similar note ,If only China and India were to show the world how to create a self sustaining country without consuming the oil and wood of yesteryear and relying on green fuels and selective lumber harvests and less intrusive means of farming and more organic smaller farms supplying locally and not globally .
They have the perfect environment to create the country of environmental envy as they are just now a huge culture coming into the consumer market for the first time really in modern history and everything needed must be built, this also applies to INDIA, these 2 countries have approx 1/3 of the worlds population but are just now awakining to the consumer world .

But I am who I am and a user of this world to some degree I will always be.

So again I say BRING ON THE NORTH AMERICAN ORIGINAL HP WAR AND GIDDY UP......................

And i say give anyone who buys one of these cars 10 speading tickets a year (min). cause you know thats the point of these cars. if you dont mean to break the law why would you buy one.

400+ hp so you can go the speed limits......NOT.

true enough but

true enough but

Hey trich, I hear ya but as I have aged so my wiseness has increased and for less than the cost of 1 speeding ticket I can race all day at the local drag strip. I have a rs/ss that pushes 365 hp net hp at rear tire not gross hp at cam, and I very rarely go much more than 5 mph over speed limit, but getting to that speedlimit is truly another suck you back into the seat story that I like to have told to me as frequently as possible. TORQUE and CUBIC INCHES ARE to cars as THC and Taste are to HERB . You don't have to go fast to get a giddy joy just driving one of these beasts.

I know as I have been driving an older version of one chevy muscle car or another for the past 24 years of my life. During those years I went from uninsurable to getting premium insurance for almost free on this sports car I have now all based on age and the wisedom that comes with it,and the hate of paying a speeding ticket as the other guy slowly drives by and waves.

Also Trich, the "if you don't mean to break the law" thing, how about a gun collector, does he have to kill in order to collect, knife collector, etc. I really now these items can be used to killbut I don't believe that everyone that has one will use them that way.How about your computer, can be used to hack anything anywhere and download illegally pirated movies songs etc,but that is not what everyone does with em.
See what I am saying.

20 year old with one of these and yeah tickets galore, 40ish year old with the income to afford it as a purely recreational summer cruiser , then that would be me ,the grey haired guy that you just cursed out in front of you for driving to slow in a GODDAMN sports car that can do 190 MPH. LOL .
I am off to sample the green , left hand twist if you will. See ya on the blacktop in the summer.

yuck! I'm not a american car fan, but the classics were nice but these are just ugly... Plus I don't care about going in just a straight line because anyone can just throw in a ton of horsepower, that is why I'm a BMW fan and love old bmws like the E30 M3 *1988*.

I bet the cars behind the bus that is belching out black diesel exhaust while stuck behind you going 30kmh on a 80kmh road are not to thrilled about your total takeover of 1 lane of 2 lane road.

I think for the sake of those horse n buggy riders, and non sweatshop shoe wearing walkers, and energy free transporters :abduct:, and inside curb passing ,whizz by and get blindly turned into as they are not noticed til to late ,bicycle riders, . ( I believe here that riding a bike requires one with a drivers license to obey the rules of the road as if they are in a car. I in my car generally don't go against the curb and pass a car ,without slowing, on the inside, at an intersection, on a redlight, then cut across the road and up the sidewalk on the other side , UNLESS I AM ON GTA then oh ya better get that cycle riding, pedestrian walking 50 point ass outta my way.) We will help them poll another way

Whoops I sound bitchy again, I just really wish everyone would stop pointing fingers at the other guy as the environmental monsters and worry about their own backyards.

If you are a true Tibetian Monk than accept my apologies as you truly are the god of all things good for earth, otherwise

PICK A FRIGGIN CAR
there is only 3 of em there, not that hard.

OK how about we try this,---for all future enviromental comments , lets rephrase the poll, which car do you as a non car liker think is the biggest, baddest, most obnoxious, fastest ,gas guzzling, noise producing ,exhaust spewing its sweet smell into yer face, piece of rolling thunder out of these three , cast your vote .:bat: :bat:

yeap, straight and 1/4, or roundy-round, some drifting spots in shopping lots and parking lot slalom.
1.5 hr drive will get ya on a professional closed circuit race track to learn the fine art of driving your dream machine the way you wish you could all the time.

A guy at work took his 1998 viper gts ( lucky bastard)for a 4 day driving coarse and said it is the best thing he ever did, helps to know how to handle 500 hp.
