yes, muskets were assault weapons. i heard a colonial guy went on a killing spree once. killed 2 people and took him over half an hour.
my point was that the constitution is an historical document and that simply saying "2nd amendment 2nd amendment 2nd amendment" is a bit absurd considering the dramatically different context in which it was envisioned.
"gun control" may be an epithet in NRA circles but it's basically a utilitarian question of how you can keep the largest number of people safe from getting shot. i tried to point out that there are different circumstances to consider, for instance, between 1789 and 2007 and between urban and rural settings and lifestyles. the NRA in its literature and political stance eschews those kind of considerations instead opting for a fundamentalist nutcase approach, featuring charlton heston as moses, the 2nd amendment as all 10 commandments, and the GOP as the party of god.
let me just say this: the united states has been for some time the world's foremost producer of weapons and weapons systems. it's only just that it also suffers from the industrialized world's highest per capita murder rate. the gun lobby--excuse me, the NRA--isn't to blame for that, but it also doesn't give a shit about it, because most of the people getting shot and doing time aren't members. or republicans.

Muddy- You are Priceless! Did you know that my plants are at day 43 of 12/12 and are so phat that they are about falling over! Seriously I have propped up 3 of them using garden stakes. I only have a total of 4. The other one is 2 weeks younger or it would be falling over too. 4/4 F's from seed. I am loving it. 400W HPS Club!

Yup- again you amaze me. I have one spare- as I am only on the first 6 months with this bulb. I enjoy the "outlaw" aspect of this sport for the reason that I hate this government like you would not believe. There are lies- and then there are DAMN lies- Sometimes the Law is an ASS!!
