I am wondering how and why cannabis became dubbed as doja back in the day (I even still here this term from time to time nowdays).

I think it's a term that came from the black culture. I have heard it in rap songs since way back in the day. Not sure exactly where it came from, it's just a nick name for cannabis, is all.
There's no real way to tell "where it came from" per se, but I'm pretty sure it came from the black community way back when rap started..I dunno for sure though.
It's a cool name for herb though, I can dig it.
