I would surely love to be the next Bender's attic! He has inspired me to make the conversion of my attic into a legal Prop 215 (California) grow. In my county I can have 24 mature plants and 12 in veg, without any patients. My poppa (I live with my dad from my own decision) has OK'd up to 2-4k watts but I think I'm going to start with a small 1kw grow until I dial things in. I'm surrounded by OG's (Original Gangsters 
) in the growing community but know close to nothing for myself.
My attic has insane temps during May - Aug, climbing up almost to 100/110F or 43C. I believe I can cure this with some good insulation, my brother and I have been trained by pops in some pretty well-rounded carpentry, supplemented by an AC. I've done my reading on the boxes, ect to know my direction.
Here's a quick explanation, We rent this house and the landlord is not (knowingly) okay with us growing marijuana. However it says in the lease NO DRUGS, there is nothing said about Medical Marijuana used as a prescription by 4/8 inhabitants of the house. The Attic is a large room (I will be getting pictures and measurements tomorrow evening) that is connected by a "secret" small door in my closet. I would assume it is around 20'ft L x 20'ft W with 20'ft L x 6'ft W of workable room with a large 'A" frame that goes a slope from 7ft tall, to about 3ft tall. The attic is situated directly above the garage insulated by only drywall really. My plan is to insulate the top (all studs are 16in apart universal on all walls), and 4 sides. Here is where my questions come in:
1) With the garage being underneath does that leave some sort of "dead air" insulation underneath? The garage never, even on very hot days rockets about 85 so that is just my assumption.
2) I plan on building seperate Veg/Flower rooms within that area, like bender. I'm encorperating more room to my Flower than my veg and plan to cycle air just like Bender did. I was thinking of doing 13ft L x 6ft W, flower, 4 x 6ft VEG and a 3 x 6 "entrance room" for smell/light/curiousity protection. haha
3) With no real windows/holes how can I run a portable AC unit? I don't really have the money/option of the Minisplit as we move often and need something movable.
4) My plan is to do a perpetual underneath the 1kw cycling 4 plants per 2 weeks doing a scrog with lights on movers, I've heard some bad things about the SCROG perpetual because of the lack of ability of movement, thoughts?
