'The Kid' ~ Gary Carter dies.......

MLB Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter passed away today at age 57 from brain cancer. He'd never played for any teams I ever cared for but was always compelled when reading the sports section to see how Gary did, usually that was as easy as glancing the headlines.

RIP Gary, Catching is a difficult task, and he was great at it.

As a New Englander, it's easy to remember that his base hit, started the rally that beat the Sox in '86. You all know the Buckner flub!

He had a lot to do, with the success of Dwight Gooden. As a young pitcher an experienced catcher is invaluable.

Great athlete. Sold a shitload of "Magic Wagons" (first minivans) for Chrysler. Sad about the aggressive brain cancer, he was not much older than me.
