Longtime broadcaster Bob (Sparky) Sherwin dead at age of 52
Bob (Sparky) Sherwin, a fixture on Hamilton radio since the early 1970s, has died. He was 52.
Sherwin, who most recently worked at CKNS, died Wednesday afternoon at Hamilton General Hospital after suffering a severe heart attack last Sunday, the station said on its website. Sherwin's career began in British Columbia in the early 1970s, and after a stop in St. Catharines, Ont., he returned home to Hamilton and joined the staff of CKOC, where he remained for a quarter-century.
From CKOC, Sherwin moved to CHML and then to CKNS, where he was the station's morning host for the past year.
Sherwin is survived by his wife Dawn, son Chris, daughters Lauren and Pamela, and his parents.
Funeral arrangements were not immediately announced
Sparky was a good man - we have a friend who worked with him, and he cut us a sweet deal. RIP dude.
