the grow room blues

I'm being real with ya'll Ive got the blues fellas I have no meds growing and I've been throwing money away on trial and error:tumbleweed:
I thought using a "home" portable ac would be fine in my 4x4x7 GR but instead it created a typhoon trying to cool a CMH bulb.
I was attempting to get females from seed, but it was just to much stress on the plants, so I sold the AC and a bunch of junk that accumulates over time and put it towards the gift that keeps on giving:biggrin:
I need some insight on how to grow meds successfully in a 4x4 GR, throwing money away sucks

Chill dude - it's very doable, you just need good in-line fans sucking the hot air out and replacing it with fresh air and a bulb which isn't too hot for them. 4x4 = 400w HPS - no idea if CMH gives out more heat, but you can easily drop down to a 250wHPS and still grow plenty for yourself.

What are you temps like where you are?

The "Ventilation 101" sticky at the top of this forum is a good place to start. You don't really have to understand the technical aspects to read the graphs, which is just a cross reference away. Ventilation is more than just cooling interior temps. It is also filtering flowering aroma's as well as bringing in cooler fresh air (read: replenishing co2). This is a good rough guide to go by for an adequate fan to help control temps:

For that size footprint 50w's/sq ft should be a rough minimum to go by and I suggest to shoot for about 60-75, give or take. Which means about four 250's, three or four 400's, one or two 600's, or one 1000w lamps. And that translates into a much better method of ventilation than what you have been using! (Please note that you don't have to go that big, you can always place a smaller light at a corner.)

hth!
