The Great Gazoo has left the building, dumdum

Just found out today (reading the obits in the local paper) that a chum of mine has passed on.

Dave was nicknamed Gazoo, after the little green man in the Flintstones cartoons. He was a very talented guitarist, and a heck of a guy.

Gazoo (or Gaz) had the strange ability to pop in and out of everyones lifes - hence the nick. We used to joke that you could be standing in the middle of a park, talking to Gazoo, and turn your head for a minute, only to turn back and he would be gone. Over the years we'd bump into each other, and it was like we were teens again.

It was strange how I saw the obit - we don't get the local paper, but my wifes mother is out of town, so we've been picking up the paper and getting her mail. I happened to pick up the classifieds, skimmed the first page, and flipped to the next page. My eyes fell on his last name, saw the first name, and broke into tears.

Bless you Gaz - I will miss you...

I struggle to find any words that may help in this time of heartbreak for you. However, you posted here to maybe find some support, and in that case I am here to give what I can. I have also lost a long time friend, and understand the uncomfortableness that it brings to life. I am sorry for you loss.
God Speed Gaz.

I will be thinking of you and sending digital positivity your way.

That what does not kill us, makes us stronger.

Stay safe

Thank you, he was a character, but he was a good man, and I will think of him often.

His funeral was today, and seeing as how it's the anniversary of SRV dying, there was lots of great guitar music on the fm.

There were people missing I thought woulda been there, and some there I hadn't seen in 30 years.

It was a different experience - it being my birthday today and all. Kinda sweet and sour. They had a religious service, I didn't think he was religious - so I kinda smiled at that.

Not a dry eye - including mine.

Well that is usually expected. (the no dry eye thing) . What a birthday, I dont know if I should say Happy birthday or just birthday.
Words of Bob Marley... ohh ohh, got to push on through, got to keep on moving...yeah ahh.
Chins are better if they are up, so keep yours up.

My condolences
