The Gardening with ALMOST free supplys Grow 2016... 5 years later at 8800 ft.

Howdy all!

Been 5 years off the radar since we've discussed growing large plants, for almost no money... Long time caregiver, appreciator of the plant.

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=208144

Been working at it since then... at over 8500 ft...

Large plants are possible at altitude. Many of the blue dream not flowering yet at 7 ft tall... everything planted this year late on June 16th

Nice to have you back. Got a lot of inspiration from your old threads. Looking forward to seeing how you finish this year.

Current day/night temps in the GH?

Nice looking garden. Do you grow any strains that finish at that altitude without light dep?
What latitude are you at?

Peace GG

glad to be back.

Immediately remember you... Thanks for chiming in. This could be my biggest show yet...

Thanks! I will leave greenhouse open most summer, even at 8800 ft.

85F / 55 F are average for where i live in august (In the greenhouse, OPEN 24/7)

The actual outdoor temps in august average 75 F / 50-55F

Greenhouse built with natural convection in mind, no electricity used, outside air enters low and leaves high on a single pitch...

YES! i have a KIngs Kush that finishes October 7th, and a Super Lemon, which is thin leafed (rare early sativa) that amber trichromes out oct 1. over 20% hash return...

We test new strains every year, but it is a rare find. finishing at altitude... at a rate of about 3 per 50 strains tested... Got a LOT of promising test strains this year... But been growing same 3 at altitude for 5 years

so many variables.... some stains hate over night lows, some cant finish in time ( all normal not unicorn sativas), some hate the extreme swings from day to night... some grow small at high altitude...

SOME care not about the extreme conditions... like 3 out of 50... and they just do insane things at altitude. more to come.

Hey again, really nice, love it.. been reading other threads... of some you might know... Had a fuck up this year, but im planning a bigger outdoor grow in a few years and going too grow similiar to this but could be no-till raised beds kind of. but similiar nutrients... My barn is already full of old manure from old owners so,thats already in place;)

As for protector, I have plan of getting a similiar dog eheh, but, I have something special for pigs! They get huge, old soar or bor, people are natural very sceptical around them i have found out... Fencing in a `Huge` area for them to have in the woods, then fence in another area of the grazing are for the ganja garden. Hope that will do it for protection.....

Do you have them all in greenhouse? How is your night/day temps from august until the end?

Do notice any specific patterns of what gens that works in your unstabile climate? Indica/sativa? and so on....?

Envious of your growing setup. Any chance you can work in some highland sativas? I would guess they would be trippy as hell with that intense sun working on them.

Yes, I have two... A sativa that finishes at higher altitude, early, with lower overnight temps is a true unicorn. Sativas, as we know, are from a more equatorial place, evolutionarily speaking.

Blue Dream. The original outdoor big swinger from Nor Cal... Ports to high altitude GREAT... loves the temps, however maybe not a true outdoor strain. Most sativas i know finish halloween to thanksgiving or later, and are no goes.

Blue Dream finishes here on Oct 21. The rest of the greenhouse is done ( we focus and select for early finishers) and we wrap and heat a portion of it ( all blue dream planted together) for the last 10 days or so

Super Lemon, however, is a true unicorn... It has NEEDLE THIN leaves, the great sativa high i like, AND FINISHES WITH AMBER TRICHROMES ON OCTOBER 1st....

Its not the fastest sativa I have, Its the fastest plant I have... Beats all indicas... True Unicorn.

That sounds very interesting. Where did you get it? Or did you breed it?
Looking for a fast Sativa for the far North. When does it start to flower?
Ok last question what Latitude are you at?

Peace GG

September is 60-75 day, 50-40 nights... first half october 60-75 days, 45-35 nights...

I will try ANY strain once... but not really patternized. Finding early finishing sativas is the game, as most staunch indicas will always finish early enough...

Super lemon, needle leaves, sativa high, October 1st amber trichromes:peacock:

38 deg 15' north.... BUT AT ALMOST 9000 ft. so I am not sure how that ports to lower elevation, higher latitude...

Greenhouse is MORE FOR hail, abusive rain, and snow, than heat... every night until mid september intake and exhaust full open.

I look for plants that enjoy the region, rather than adding a ton of heating / cooling input... No electricity in fact in August, plants do not over heat.

I just did this with branches of OGKB 2.0, GG4, and Sour Kush

They have had most of the fan leaves wilt and fall off so I'll be drying them out in another day.
