The Established Expectation Theory

I have a theory that people tend to create an expectation on how high they will get, based on how the weed smells, looks, & tastes. Before the weed is even smoked an expectation has been established by the user.

Theory: A subject establishes outcome expectations based on sensory observations.

I think you get "high-er" when you do not get an opportunity to see the weed before it is smoked.
Example: If I walk up on a few friends smoking a joint and I join in, I think you get "high-er" because you did not get an opportunity to create an expectation.
I feel there would be a greater chance of being "less high" if i had been apart of the viewing/rolling process.

please replace "high-er" with the correct word I'm too high to figure it out...

So perhaps this is why that junky looking "creeper" bud gets you sooo high. It looks like shit and you get low expectations, but then strong high hits you outta the blue... Bam you're weed wasted.

This makes sense to me on a certain level. More true some times then others.

I think mental state definitely influences how a high feels to one. I can agree with that. However, I can remember having low expectations and getting very high indeed on more than one occasion.
