go pick through the soil. I had to help my brainstorm along. I pulled the husk off, and it looked dead. Two days later, it popped twins. Lol. Though, I think one of the twins wont make it... it charged for a while, then fell off.

:thank you:good rep coming your way ( when I can). I carefully dug around in the soil. The seedling was in little to deep and was turned around growing down. I repositioned it. Hopefully it recovers and isnt scarred for life.

2. defoliation experiment ( jury is still out )

I heavily defoliated my last crop.

Here's what I observed. Small, wispy popcorn fluff at bottom of plant had MUCH more density than previously. The whole plant seems to have done a better job. Didn't notice a drastic overall weight increase, but it did seem to have some effect.

If I had the ability to let them veg longer and strip leaves in veg I'm sure I'd see an increase in bud weight simply due to extra budsites. I'm stuck heavily defoliating the MOM and then cloning from her and going into flowering maybe 3-7 days later.

(My plants only need to be about 6" tall when I start flowering. Doesn't take long to get there once they've rooted.)

I stopped defoliating for the time being. I want to eliminate that from all the variables I have going on in there. After I recover and dial in the other factors maybe I will revisit it.

I have the little one in my prayers. :)
As long as you didn't harm the tap root you should be good to go.
Let me know if it pops ;)

more project pics

How's this project coming along? I'm looking to build my grow space out of a wardrobe and would like to use PLLs in the same fashion as you have. Thank you for sharing your techniques so we can all learn from your mistakes.

I've got a couple questions about your intentions for this design;

1) What are the 2 tubs for underneath your pots on the very bottom?
2) How do the fans on top of each PL-L cool the bulb? It looks to me, that there is no space for the air to get from the tube and past the 2G11 socket. I would have assumed you'd use the fan&tube combo to cool the whole flowering chamber.

I'm guessing something is going right over my head here...some more detail may help.

:thank you:

The project is for a friend. It is going slowly he lives on the other side of town. I can only work on it 1 day a week for a few hours each time. Currently limited by lack of funds. Those are the ballasts. I haven't figured out how I will configure them exactly. The trays under will be resevoirs for a wick system. My buddy has bad knees Im trying to make watering less of a hassle. This cabinet will produce 1 ounce a week bare minimum. Their are two heavy smokers in his house so I hope it produces alot more.

Sorry tilt, I updated my post after I'd re-thought my questions and in the mean time you answered my original post. I wasn't expecting you to answer so quickly.

Could you answer my 2nd question for me, or have you covered this elsewhere for your existing setup?

I'm trying to establish a setup that will produce similar yields, maybe up to 2 ounces. That's why this setup looks so appealing and I'm dying for you to finish it!

The fans [45 cfm each]are there for each tube. They do not cool the entire set up. The fans pull air into the tube over and around the lamp. Pll's base is the hottest part. The main cooler is the main exhaust fan at the top. It pulls the cool air into the cab up and out. The socket size is not a big issue. It works in my current cab quite well. The whole key is you make the air go where you want it to. 1 side note is your cab temps will be higher ( ir heat) with out any plants in it. When it is full of plants the temps go way down.

How much light loss do you have with plexiglass covering your pl-l's? I want to section my flowers from my lights with a thin piece and put little computer fans at one end to blow through it and up to my inline fan.

Next time I have access to a light meter I will find out. I would use glass in your situation. Thin and clear and kept clean.

computer fans have no sound at all. the stanley blower sounds like rushing air desk fan is louder. I have a humidifier on top that is louder. People assume it is the humidifier running.

The sound of rushing air is definitely a Bia... lol. My cab would be silent if it wasn't for all that Suction. I am moving into my own place in my name though... So f'it no need to worry about the sound anymore. lol.

Though, I definitely can't have the smells.... I wish I could just fill my house full of the wonderful growing smell, but I am sure that wouldn't work out for the best.
