The Day the Music Died-50 yr. Anniversary

Feb 3, 2009 marks the 50 year anniversary of the day that the Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly were killed in a plane crash. I've decided to put up a thread commemorating and more importantly, celebrating their lives and their contribution to music.

First up is a link to an informative video about the crash, set to Don MacLean's American Pie, which was, in part, based on that tragic crash: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXWi7cxwL_s&feature=related

I will be posting links and a little info on each of these talented musicians in the coming days.

Enjoy

Mr. Richard Steven Valenzuela AKA Ritchie Valens: 16 years old when he signed his first record deal and 17 at the time of the crash, he never really had a chance to make a big name for himself while alive. I don't think many people will disagree when I say that he had a load of talent. The movie "La Bamba" was based on his life.

Next up is J.P. Richardson AKA the Big Bopper. I have to admit that I am not the biggest fan, so if anyone else wants to pay tribute, they're welcome to.
