Released back in October 2014..like the union, is causing a stir...just in the right places

The-Culture-High-2014-movie-poster.jpg

I've seen their first film The Union, many other pot and drug documentaries and read books by Gabor Matè and Tom Feiling etc. but still Culture High managed to blow my mind.

Like the director Brett Harvey said, Marijuana touches pretty much every issue that is wrong in the world. It's not that legalizing pot would solve all the problems in the world, but it's all the injustices in the world that are actually keeping pot illegal.

And it's not just the topic and the content that makes this film so good. It's technically and storytelling-wise pure gold. These guys aren't really pot activist, they are film makers and at least in the field of documentaries, they are one of the best at the moment. I guess the only reason they aren't more known is because you can't really get critical acclaim in this world by making a movie about pot - yet ;)

This documentary really has potential to inspire change in the world. So thanks guys for incredible work! ..Pedrich.Finland

I donated to help this film get made. I even have my name mentioned in the credits. :woohoo: It really is a great flick! It's just as hard hitting as "The Union" was.

To 'us old stoners' this movie is old hat, ..it runs seconds short of 2 hours, with lots of middle class professionals dissing the current USA cannabis laws, which is good, but even a stoner is pushing the limit to watch this content....bottom-line its direction-less ..

True... its aimed at those who may smoke a joint 2-4 times in their entire lives, and so whats wrong with that, as it is now ..2 hours of dissing the Merican drug war ...it could be used as torture material by the Mexican Feds on their very own Banditoes ..?

better to cut it to 8 (eight) 15 mintue shorts and bomb 'Joe public' via the web, rather than expect him to hand over $us15.00 for 2 hours of dissing ..?

seen it..? comment!

Just watched this.

Certainly takes a broader brush to the issue than "The Union", but I found it fascinating nonetheless. It does wander a bit, but all these issues are interlinked, so I can't fault it for that.

It's a pity that exactly because it challenges the status-quo between government, media and big business, that it's not the sort of documentary that is likely to be aired on mainstream TV at primetime.

I watched "the Culture High" last night. I was impressed by how clearly they made their case about cannabis. if the "fucks" were not in there, you could probably get more main-stream media to show it. the more folk see it & are exposed to cannabis in a positive manner, the faster things will move. I liked how that most folks shown were not long-hairs, dreadlocks, or circus tattoo freaks. the average "man on the street" (or his wife) do not identify with them. I'm not saying you can't have long hair or tats, I'm saying that you don't come across as someone that the average voter will sympathize with. I had hair so long that I could tuck my French braid into my pants pocket until a couple of years ago, so I know what it is like to "stick out"... :tiphat: I was a "pig magnet" until I became a little more..."pedestrian", shall we call it."

This was pretty good. Watched it on Sunday. Surprised I don't hear people mention it more.
