After trying some rather mediocre 'lemon diesel', its time to move on to another somewhat locally-produced product.
This bud frequently gets refered to as 'Venetian' but I have no ideas of its genetic heritage. Noone seems to know where it comes from or what family even its in (kush, haze, NL, etc). Unlike the $60 an eighth 'lemon diesel', this stuff is pretty prevelant, and can be had for as little as $275 an ounce if you buy in quantity. You will always, however, see this weed being pedaled for $50 for a ~3 gram bag.
The in-bag appearance of this weed is actually pretty good. It has a small-scale, organically-grown look to it; sparse, splindly deep green bud spears with a decent spattering of actual crystals instead of white hairs. Looks like it leans towards the sativa side of things.
The aroma of this herb is quite interesting, if off-putting. It literally smells like it was dipped in gasoline or motor oil. I turned down an ounce of this a few months ago actually, because of its intense petrol smell. I thought it got smuggled in the fuel tank, but I got to see the mother plant and this is in fact its true smell. Also has a distinct urine-like smell too.
This stuff smokes decently; seems like it has been cured at least a little bit and is much smoother on the throat than the other commercial examples I tried. Unfortunately though, only the first hit tastes half-way decent. After that its like sucking on a dirty-bong. My other major problem with this herb is the way it crackles and pops in the pipe - obviously a lot of unflushed nutrients are still in there.
I have to say though that the high on this weed is GREAT. An almost pure-sativa high caught me way off guard! This pot is instantly motivational and uplifting, and you feel a mild euphoria or stimulatedness like after a cup of coffee. Mild visual trippiness and a general sense of up near-speediness. Really enjoyable for a daytime smoke, but it does seem a little early-picked because I have to smoke at least a fat bongload to get close to where I want to be. Seriously enhances enjoyment of music, too.
All in all, this weed is passable. The smell and taste sucks, to be honest, but the high is pretty damned good. I could be fairly happy if this was the only thing I had to smoke, but i'd be sure to put it in the vaporizer because of the chemy-ness.
