The Church - 100w CFL/135w LED easy soil grow

Hi friends.

Here's my basic soil grow of a Greenhouse Seeds 'The Church' feminized baby. I chose this strain as I'm in a damp spot where humidity is rarely under 50% - far worse at times - and this is recommended for my conditions.
First pic is two weeks from germination under 100w cfl's.
After a further week I'm going to re pot and switch to a 135w LED.
Cheap compost in a 3" pot with 20/4 light schedule at present.

Hello again, here's the week 3 (after germination) update.

Yesterday I re-potted into a 10" pot and thought I would use a plant support I had hanging around.

As you see the 135w LED is going strong and the plant is just under 5" in height. Lights 20 on 4 off at the moment.

I'm impressed with the LED so far, the 3 internal fans are slightly noisy, so you couldn't really use them if you have people in the next room. Just ask if you want to know anymore about that, but they don't put out much heat - as many people have said.

Not the most exciting grow in the forums but if you are newish like me and want to see a basic grow economy style for your own use I hope it's interesting.

Great looking plant there! Have you thought about putting your cfl's back in there? I've had better luck with a combo ( 2x Glowpanel 45 + 4x 26w cfl) than using separately especially in flower. I'm subscribing can't wait to go to church with ya!

Yes I'm going to add a couple of soft white CFL's this weekend when I go to 12/12. So that will be 135w LED + 40w CFL in total.

It will be interesting to see how she starts growing in a week or so...

As regards nutes I use a decent basic compost and then a couple of standard liquid feeds. One after around 4weeks flowering then maybe another 2-3 weeks later. I make sure they are diluted to around 25% of normal. But I haven't grown this strain before so I'll see how she goes...

Hi friends, another week and she's going great

4 weeks after germination, now changed to 12/12 for flowering and added the 2 x 20w CFL's.

There's been lovely growth in a week, as you can see, heaven knows what's going to happen now
If she accelerates now flowering is starting I'm gonna have to expand my grow space....

How do you find the grow so far with the LED? I am running 1000 watts. I really like the veg with them very bushy compared to HPS.

I haven't grown this strain before so I can't compare the vegging - but I have grown small HPS/LED grows.

With this 135w LED and 120w CFL's for flowering I think I can grow 4 quality plants in around a 1m x 1m space and there won't be anything like the heat of 250w hps that's for sure so I won't need any cooling - just vent the hot air from the top

I'm starting to love this LED... if you are on a budget they seem perfect.

I didn't post a pic of mother last week so there's plenty of growth since 2 weeks ago - both clones are going well by the way.

She's loving the LED... Think you can just about make out the first signs of the female flowers but my pics a little fuzzy.

Will be feeding with weak solution of multi-purpose liquid feed next week. Ciao.

Hi again.

She's had her first liquid feed, 1/4qtr strength of a liquid plant food. I'll give her another in two weeks then again at week 8 - then see what things look like.

I took off 4 bottom side shoots to try to clone but as they are well into flowering I'm not sure I can keep them long enough. I'm afraid the first two clones aren't looking too good either...

Never had any luck with cloning - and I've read loads of advice and stuff. Next time I'll try 3 or 4 different methods and see which works for me

Hmm not so good a report this time.

I'm not happy that the buds are developing fully after 7 weeks. They had better improve - quick. She's had 2 feeds and will get a last one next week.
The bottom few leaves are dying quite a lot now so I think this strain needs a bigger pot to root in.
I took clones in veg stage and they just died quick. But the 4 I took after 4 weeks of flowering are looking a lot better, I think 3 will be OK.

You plant looks OK. Needs some more time.

I like a little bigger pot because they are more forgiving.

I grew out Vertigo (paradise) last year with a very similar set up.

I had about 100 watts of CFLs and a 180 (i believe it runs 90-100 watts)watt Blackstar LED.

Strain guide says 8 weeks flowering but as you say an extra week seems a good idea.



The 4 clones are now doing great - so for the following grow I will pick the best 3 as that is the max I can get in my space using bigger pots.

Well here we are at the end of 9 weeks flowering, so she's had the chop.

Here's the last pics. After drying the bud for a while I'll weight up what I've got and let you know.
Last thoughts? Easy to grow, cloned well in early flowering, low odour but needs a big pot indoors at least 12" - bigger if you have room.
