The Chem family

MrSterling

My question is who has the best Chem in seed form these days, and would a person be better off going further down the line to pick something with Chem in its ancestry? Is it time to disregard Rez's remaining stock? There have been more than a few germination issue reports, but the price has been dropped.

Forgot something else and this id thought off last night! Ssss
Does the virus only reveal it self when put into flower?

No pm can appear in veg too...lack of airflow and the pm is inside the plant from the time cuts are taken

I have found that if I transplant my C4 into a 2 gallon a few days before I cut my lights my leaves wont yellow at all in flower but if i leave it in a smaller 1 gallon potter the leaves yellow about 4-5 weeks into flower

Heres my GrandDoggyPurps. You can see the tie-dye abit in the leaves. Its more visable in person. Im sure OJD used the finest Chem D cut available. He used Kens GDP for the X. The wierd discoloration that the real Chem D is known for coming out in my pheno gives me alot of hope for a stellar strain.

just wondering do u think i got a chem cross.. i mean it stinks like something that could be chemdawg or something its really funky stinky lemony kushy smell to it.. amazing trich coverage.. and it has this happen to it.. in Veg.. but once in flower it usually darkens up the leaves a little more green with less of the mutation .

I'm leaving these here. I highly suggest any of you unfamiliar with the following topics give them a read. It will clear these issues up I hope:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variegation
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tobacco_Mosaic_Virus
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powdery_Mildew - Powdery Mildew is FUNGAL, not viral and certainly not related to TMV, and certainly doesn't live inside cuttings waiting to come out.

Variegation can be caused by a virus, it's what caused the unique tulips that led to Tulipomania in the Netherlands in the 17th century. The effect of those breaking viruses in Tulips lead to great colours, but they also led to the decline of many. Some of these cultivars are completely extinct; the virus that made them variegated eventually wiped them out. Then there are cases like the fish pepper, a variegated "sport"(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sport_(botany)) of the Cayenne pepper. It's leaves are variegated between green and white, with full white offspring sprouting but being unable to photosynthesis. This form of variegation is not only inheritable it does not prove detrimental to most of the stock.

That *DOES NOT* mean the variegation in Chem D is Tobacco Mosaic Virus, which tends to be virulent *and* cause problems in most of its plant hosts. If this was Tobacco Mosaic Virus growers would be noticing endless amounts of necrotic leaves and stunted growth. TMV doesn't always kill the plant it's infected, but it usually does enough damage that a grower would DEFINITELY notice. This is another grow myth that cannabis is inundated with TMV. That thread in the infirmary or whatever should be deleted entirely. Liberate yourself from these myths and your job of growing good dope is made easier.

this is what the buds look like.. ya.. im going to have to say what i got is not a TMV. . if it was the plants wouldnt grow so with much vigor and ud be seeing alot more damage the leafs tend to stay just like that or get darker in flower.

Got this clone from some1 on Rollitup and who used to be on here. but has recently left iunno y but hes supposedly had to shut down most of his shit so i agreed to take on his mothers to keep his genetics alive. so ill be getting many more.. but i was gifted this from him 4 months ago.. and wen he said id be amazed with the results.. i can say its the first time another grower has told me something true.. thats y i dont talk to any other growers in REAL Life.. but him and a couple others.. and i only know him cause my partner is best friends with his cousin.. so it makes me a little weary of what people say but it turnd out sick

Good info MrSterling, we also have to remember that the variegation clears up once higher levels of magnesium are introduced and that some chem hybrids also show the variegation so this leads me to believe that it isn't a virus but a genetic trait.

ya it goes away in mine also.. once adding cal-mag+ it clears up.. but u can still see it.. just not as light.

Anybody know what chemdawg has a stale beer/skunky smell? I used to cop it back in the day and it was some of the best herb Ive come by. For all I know it could have been a made up name but going by how dank it was Im thinking it was legit. This pop any lights in anyones head?

I don't think anyone has mentioned this but if there were just 13 seeds in 3 zips he bought it is highly likely and I would venture to say probable that the seeds were s1 from something that hermied. I doubt it was a real males pollen or there would be more than 13 seeds.

Tony~ I asked Mr. ChemDog that exact question roughly 7 years ago...he told me he had found zero males in those seeds...less than a year later he told someone else that he had found a male in those seeds...that was around the time that Mr. ChemDog lost all credibility with me and anyone that knows me.

Out of those supposed "13 original ChemDawg seeds" I have grown 7 of the supposed plants that came from those seeds. I've said this before in other threads (and I'm sure I'll say it again)...the ChemDawg #1-4 are absolutely sister plants(with each other)...however, they aren't sisters to the ChemDawg D or the ChemDawg Sister...let alone sisters of the original ChemDawg '91(SkunkVA cut). With that said, again, I firmly believe there was only one plant found in those seeds by Mr. ChemDog...all the other ChemDawg cuts that are supposedly from those same seeds I believe are fem-hybrids with the original '91 ChemDawg(SVA) cut.

On a final note...If Mr. Chemdog ever comes out of hiding...I'd love to hear the true story behind his magic beans. :chin:
