The attack of.....EGG WATER!!!!! AHHHHHHHH!

I sure as hell hope someone knows what Im talking about.

I have a friend who lives in the sticks. I dont know how he lives there, because his water is unbelievable disgusting. When you run the faucet, flush the toilet, or take a shower, any agitation of water really, and you are blasted with a foul rotten egg smell that makes you want to commit hari kari to preserve the honor of your olfactory system.

This water is bad, to say the least, for hydroponics. Well established soil plants sure dont like it either, but can "handle" it, as in, not die instantly.

Which brings me to an amazing conundrum.

We built an aero cloner, that works successfully at other locations, but when we tried cloning with egg water, a disgusting slime, like that found on roots in hydro when carbo load style products are used, would form on the stem, dissolving the green skin, and leaving nothing but a white core. Obviously, no roots.

We said, ok, its the egg water. Cleaned out the cloner, bought a bunch of distilled water from the store, and we got the SAME RESULTS!

We bought new stuff to make a new cloner, bought an RO filter, and we STILL GET SLIME!!!! IS MY FRIENDS HOUSE CURSED??

I will get pics as soon as possible to help explain, but for some reason, cloning is not happening at my buddies house.

Yeah, i know the sulfur thing, and you are correct, there filters are assed out.

Im so curious because it continues to do the same thing with RO water AND distilled water bought from the store.

Try adding 1 teaspoon 3% hydrogen peroxide from the drug store per gallon of water in the cloner daily. Or, add 2 teaspoons of the same 2 to 3 times a week. Maybe this will discourage disease.

you may purchase a softwater filter that will filter all the water in the house, this will give you better showers and better plants, not to mention the smell will go away...

is there a water heater that is old? maybe the problem could be in there? Had a similar situation and we found the problem to be there

Thanks for that suggestion sbaegis.

its so nice to have everyone to catch all the super obvious things ive been overlooking lately.

Thanks to everyone that has replied so far.

I'm going to vote for temps also. Isn't sulfur essentially influential to our plants? Although I'm sure in high enough quantity anything is bad. I'd also lean towards another factor than water since you've basically eliminated that without your various water sources.
