THCV's Winter Harvest of Elites

T

THCV

I vegged these ladies indoors in hydro starting in mid-October. They went outside late December and flowered until mid-March, about 12 weeks. Yes, it's a long time, but the low light of winter, cold nights, and soil makes everything much slower (these all take 60 days max in my indoor setup). Not a lot of yield--probably an HP from 8 plants, but better than nothing, and pretty much free. The bubba got nailed with a lot of PM, and there were plenty of black aphids being farmed by ants on the big fan leaves, plus a few whiteflies for good measure. So some was lost to PM/pests; you can see the "lost" buds drying on the cardboard for bubble.

Outdoor is really tricky if you are used to indoor! Bug control is tough. Anyway, here are the pix:

the line up. L to R, 2 sdks that just went out (the rest are about to chop), 2 bubbas, 2 sdks (og x sd), 4 trainwrecks.

yes, sdk is og kush x sour diesel. i did trim a lot cuz with the leafy outdoor buds it is so much easier to get some good trimming done when it's fresh. there will be another pass after they dry of course.

thanks as always for the props, brothers and sisters. outdoor winter is really just a way to deal with the smaller vegged plants that i don't put into flower; i wasn't expecting much. But i am happy; outdoor bubba has a flavor that is distinctly more complex and earthy, if less specific, than indoor bubba. And i love it.

those ain't seedlings--those are weeds, real weeds. killed right after the picture. they grow fast here, hehe, don't i know it!

yeah, the flower bed is rad. I can't take credit; it's at my friend's place and that landscaping is all him. looks even better in the fall:

this was late nov, the plants were harvested mid-Dec. They vegged inside for 2 months, then went out in late August.

do the neighbors not notice the fat buds sticking out over the fence? If I were your neighbor I might be tempted to relieve you of a few tops, lol

I just started flowering my Diesel Kush THCV.
Looks good.
Can't wait to see if it's the same one I smoked years ago.
Tasted like Sour Diesel and The same original OG Kush I grow.
Thats why your diesel Kush is less lanky then SD because it was bred with the original OG Kush.
And it stretches less then the other OG's(the lanky ones)
I think thats where the purple is coming from too.
Because my original OG can get some purple going under the right conditions.
Original OG is one of the best looking colorful plants I've ever seen in late flower.
Can't wait to see how the Diesel Kush does. Looks great so far.
After this next grow, I'm going all original OG for a few month during the hot summer heat.
Because the original OG is stable enought to take the heat.
So once it cools down again I'll tart growing the diesel hybrids and strains that are more prone to herms.
Original OG can grow in 110 degree weather with out it even fazing it.
And it can grow in the winter pretty well too outdoors. My friend I got it from was growing some outdoors in the winter and it was bomb bud just less yield.
Thats the awesome thing about the original OG, it's stable unlike the others.
Only thing that would hermie this strain is if I fed straight budswel into the soil or something crazy crazy like that.Great for breeding.I might try the SFV OG in a breeding project just to see how many offspring carry the herm gene. Is that the future Black Thai fence THCV?.

well, i hope it stacks up, JDOG. It will certainly be purple with minimal effort.

my Original OG is vegging so damn slowly. It was bigger than the Black Thai and Kali Mist when i got them, now it is half the size! Vegs slower than bubba or even GDP--actually, maybe it's on par with GDP. That makes me think it can't be a big yielder compared to Ghost. We'll see..nice to know it can take the heat, but my rooms are controlled.

Yep, that's the future location of the black thai. Might not run it on the fence, I'm considering a Black Thai Topiary since it will be vegging for so many months. Like a huge chia pet! Not sure what shape to train it into yet, maybe a dog or a pig, hehe.

heh...they grow fast everywhere :p
i actually dont mind a few weeds at harvest time as long as its not a canopy of weeds preventing good airflow..
because really when you think about it they are sucking up unused fertilizer/nutrients (primarily N), which i, myself, dunno bout yall, try my best to 'flush' out at the end of the cycle..
so this can be described as a type of beneficial companion planting technique.
id even go as far as calling it, 'symbiotic manipulation' ...heh
again, as long as they dont get out of control, because too much greenery down below will indeed raise the humidity considerably and/or prevent movement of fresh air underneath, which can and does cause fungal attack, as im sure yall know. :smoke: also dont let plants of any kind drape onto or climb the bottoms of your plants... i have learned that insects, especially caterpillars and slugs, will use these as 'natural bridges' to get from point A. to point B. (your colas)...easily bypassing any efforts youve made to ensure nothing climbs the stalks (copper wire is popular for slug control, d.earth for larve/crawling insects, etc)
your lil garden looks A-OK tho, THCV! excellent job! 'specially fer someone not familiar with outdoor :)

so anyway, you say bubba was your fav then huh...:chin: if you could do it all over again, would you have just filled the space with all bubba? 8) hehehe
much love THCV ~ shake it ez!
