Test Grow - Verdant Green's feminized strains

VerdantGreen has recently made some feminized seeds (via the colloidal silver method), and I've been lucky enough to be asked to do some test grows.

My understanding is that if these turn out to be as good as we expect, they will be made available for sale on the bay.

Anyone who knows me, knows that my setup and methods are rather ghetto, so it will be a good test of their stability. If there is any propensity to throw nanners...well, my setup will probably bring them out.

First batch I'm running is:

Bubbadog : Chemdog D clone x (reversed) Bubba Kush
Dog Breath : Chemdog D clone x (reversed) Shark's Breath

Later on, we will see Bubba Shush (Bubba Kush x (reversed) Shark's Breath), Shark's Breath S1, and Bubba Kush S1. These will be in a few weeks, as space in my veg area frees up.

So.....3 x Bubbadog and 3 x Dog Breath were put in the towels, all popped tails within 48 hours. One Dog breath didn't make good root, and was eliminated early, so 5 are remaining.

Still at the early stages. Most are in a 50/50 mix of Westland seed compost and bagged topsoil, with one in the above mix with added recycled soil (including coco and perlite). The compost/topsoil mix is a bit heavier than I'd like, which has slowed a couple of the seedlings down, but I'll correct this issue once I pot up.

As you can see, we've got a little tri/mutant action going on...hopefully this will work itself out as time goes on...we shall see.

As small as the second DB seems, it's still more vigorous than a Deep Chunk seedling I popped two days before all the beans as a measure of veg speed.

Updates approximately weekly. Any and all comments/questions welcome....

ETA: Smilies count as one of your 5 images?.....that's harsh, Skip, really.....

thanks Blimey, they look good. :tiphat:

here, have a smiley on me :woohoo:

i have both bubba and sharksbreath revesed pollen frozen, so im hoping that between us we can come up with the best combination or two and then i'll try and make a bigger batch of those seeds.

i have a couple of Bubba Shush that are a little further on and i'll throw up some pics of them as we go along.

im very excited about these fem crosses, by rights there should be some fire in there... but time will tell.

look very Great white shark dominant to me, but early days. ive just put these under my eco unit LED so they should make good progress from now on in.

thanks guys.

here we are 2 weeks in and it looks promising. not too much stretch. budding up well. the right combination of bubba and sharksbreath traits here and the cross could be a real winner.
not much variation, but i see more of a bubba leaf shape in BS1

BS2 doesnt seem to have sidebranched quite so much.

well, it looks like blimey has gone offline for a while... best wishes to you blimey and dont worry about the test grow if life is getting in the way...
time will tell if we hear any more about the Chem fem crosses.

at my end the bubba shush is still looking promising...
bs1 is emerging as a better looking pheno, slightly thinner leaves and bigger buds so far... but still not a massive difference between the 2 plants. they are starting to frost up so we'll see what they smell like soon
at 3 weeks

bs2 has slightly fatter leaves but the buds dont seem quite as big

cheers mellow, yeah they are coming in pretty well. BS1 looks a better pheno but possibly because it stretched a bit more and filled more of the screen. i have clones of them both rooted and im happy to say that they rooted in a week, much quicker than the bubba which takes two. so the sharksbreath's desirable fast rooting trait seems to have come through in the cross.
here are a couple of pics of the bs1. looking like it should yield quite well too and frosting up. so far im very pleased...

thanks guys, yeah its coming on pretty well. been away but the plants survived

at 7 weeks, i'm happy to say that both phenos are developing some bubba funk to them
BS1 is like a bubba smell but more creamy - and the nugs just keep getting bigger!

and BS2 is doing well, sort of a acid fruity, maybe lemonish smell as well as a classic bubba smell going on here. also the nugs are starting to stack calyxes a bit, so this should be a reasonable yield too. more buds on this one too so they should add up.
