Terpene %

Some concentrates are tested for their terpene percentage. Gimmick or not the numbers seemed legit to me. Does anyone know the process for testing terpenes. Can bud be tested the same way?

Buds can be tested with a GC using headspace.

Out of all the molecules in the plant, who is it putting terpenes in the spotlight? Those are the least desirable, least beneficial, least original aromatic chemicals associated with Cannabis.

Terpenes and Cannabis are a flawed association. 30% Cannabinoids, 1% terpenes, 25% moisture (gotta keep it wet to pretend it's dank) 44% who gives a fuck?

Don't care what anyone says, put Skunk or Diesel against some terpene crap, everyone is going to pick the Skunk or diesel. Quality is not subjective, corporate propaganda has everyone second guessing reality. Fuck terpenes that shit ain't helping improve anyone's life.

No one remembers heirloom soy anymore either. Defunked and made useless to be sold to soccer moms and hipsters, Just. Like. Weed.

Tide Pod eating fake humans have taken over. I remember when "perfume bud" meant a good thing, like perfume themed candy. Now it refers to bud that's been sprayed, and the perfume smoking masses can not tell the difference.. Terpene hype end game right there. Fuck em.

Terpenoids are quite potent, and affect animal and even human behaviour when inhaled from ambient air at serum levels in the single digits ng·mL−1. They display unique therapeutic effects that may contribute meaningfully to the entourage effects of cannabis-based medicinal extracts. Particular focus will be placed on phytocannabinoid-terpenoid interactions that could produce synergy with respect to treatment of pain, inflammation, depression, anxiety, addiction, epilepsy, cancer, fungal and bacterial infections (including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus).

the other side of the coin...

Toxicant Formation in Dabbing: The Terpene Story:

The study herein focuses on the chemistry of myrcene and other common terpenes found in cannabis extracts. Methacrolein, benzene, and several other products of concern to human health were formed under the conditions that simulated real-world dabbing. The terpene degradation products observed are consistent with those reported in the atmospheric chemistry literature.

Yup.

I shared that study the other day.
Surprise, people selling concentrates had a fit and would accept the conclusion.

Concentrates for inhaling should be limited to ~4% terpenes

And, there needs to be more oversight as to the source of the terpenes.

I fear we will see lab-grown terpenes similar to how the majority of citric acid comes from mold in a lab.

All I'm talking about is different tastes. It took me a while to even use the word terpene.

terpenes have aromas...they are aromatic hydrocarbons...that translates into taste...

from the earlier link i posted...

hope this helps...keep it low kids...

flavour is dependant on strain profile of not only just terpenes...google is your friend...

with the 7 terpenes i use...i can get 100's of flavours...and effects...

with a minor manipulation of the terpene profile i achieve a different effect...

sorry...got ahead of myself...Methacrolein

Methacrolein diacetate is extremely toxic, capable of causing severe eye injuries, burns on the skin, and hazards when inhaled. According to the NCBI, "Rabbit eye studies showed the material to cause severe irritation & corneal injury, being rated 9 on a scale of 10. It is markedly irritating to the skin & can cause a burn, but greater hazard is that of skin absorption ... It is hazardous from inhalation also. All rats exposed for 1 hr to essentially saturated vapors died, & five of six rats exposed to 63.5 ppm for 4 hr died."

About that perfume bud , Here in the uk i call it onabud as its a product called ONAGEL that they are using to mask the smell of the weed so they dont get caught, Sadly hydro stores over here are selling it in abundance and all the muppets and obv big comersh growers are using it. Its a cancer causing volatile organic compound that was used to take away smells in sewerage plants, Nasty nasty stuff. Parma violets sweets lavenderxtrainwreck mmm m lovely

I recently switched from distillate with cannabis derived terps to raw distillate with no terps and I feel a lot better.

Turns out terps even in low concentrations and at at low temps in my nrg tank make my sinuses go crazy and give me a heck of a cough.

Raw on the other hand is smooth as can be with no inflammation of the sinuses and no cough at all.

The effects are the same, raw might even hit a bit harder because I can't feel it going in and it's not diluted by 4% terps.

I think I'm done with inhaling terps and will stick to putting them in edibles. I feel a heck of a lot better now and you get used to no taste and no smell in a couple days
